  1. Pre-treat

No matter what it is, if you want to save time the secret key all the cleaning fairies are using is “pre-treating.” It could be a pot, pan, tub, or even window sill, if it is an above average grimy job, pre-treat it. This is key for the kitchen as well.

  1. Dry It Out

Ever notice how amazingly perfect hotel bathrooms are? They are fresh, crisp, and above all DRY. This is key for a perfectly clean home. When in doubt, dry it out. This goes for towels, bath mats, and slip mats, scrub brushes, wash cloths, anything that could be damp and gathering bacteria.

  1. Divide and Conquer

This one is my secret sauce, and one the professionals use every day. They start in a room picking one task and finishing it until it is perfect. Say for instance the bed. They strip, refresh, make and perfect the bed. They don’t strip the bed, bring the laundry to the laundry room, throw in a load, and then head to the bathroom to start on the toilet.

They do one task till it is perfect. This will help you in the long run because in a matter of minutes if you keep to a task till it’s finished you will find your job completed and perfect. If you don’t know where to begin think of your room like a clock, start at 12 o’clock and work your way around 😉


  1. Figure Out Your Goal

I am a perfectionist. But some days perfect just isn’t in the cards. That doesn’t mean it can’t be pretty darn good though. By knowing your schedule and prioritizing your day you know how much time you have to get certain things done well. Find your “perfect” for the day. It will look different each day.


  1. Remove Before Cleaning

This is one I’m not too great at. I like to just get in and start the job. But just like painting sometimes tasks need a little “prep.” If you are painting a room you need to sand, tape edges, and lay drop cloths. Same with cleaning sometimes.

If you’re cleaning an oven remove the racks, if you’re cleaning a stain soak up as much as possible, and vacuum sand and dirt before scrubbing the stain. Keep in mind in all cleaning situations your best bet is always to remove as much as possible before you begin. This can go for counters, bathrooms, and tables as well.

Stress creeps in on the best of us. I truly hate the days I feel stressed. I usually wake up feeling different. Moody. And for me at least, there doesn’t seems to be an easy way to beat daily stress!
Stressful days seem to kind of spiral out of control, until we find ourselves on the couch with a warm washcloth over our eyes and popping a painkiller or two.

• For me I usually get annoyed at the information out there for de-stressing. I don’t have the time or willpower to exercise for 30 minutes a day.

• I either don’t have the ingredients or truly don’t want to eat all the bland and boring health food they suggest.

• And it is NEVER quiet long enough here for me to meditate! (if it is where you are, this is a great practice!)

I decided to create a list of things I truly enjoy that make me happy, and feel BETTER! Things I can apply right now, things that make me take a deep breath and remember everything is okay!

These are my quick and easy ways to relieve stress in my life!

Tea: Tea is very beneficial and healing. It helps to reduce stress and anxiety and a bonus is that is promotes weight loss and appetite control!!

Lavender Lemonade: I know this goes under the category of “not having the ingredients in the cupboard” but bear with me. I too did not have the ingredients necessary for this recipe when I first found it. However, I made it a point to get them, and KEEP them on hand! This beautiful, elegant, lovely, treat is not only a calming experience for the eyes, but the taste buds as well. The lavender is proven to de-stress and relax the most tense muscles in your body. This is one to keep cool in the fridge!

Berries: Especially blueberries are rich in antioxidants and chalk full of vitamin C, which aids in the repairing of damaged cells due to stress. Get your hands on some fresh or even dried berries and treat yourself to a little break.

Cashews: Being a salty and crunchy snack they also help with cravings. However, cashews are high in zinc. Studies have been linked to low levels of zinc causing anxiety and depression. Keeping these little morsels on hand is a good idea.

Dark Chocolate: A bar of dark chocolate is really what does it for me! Mind you it has to be quality dark chocolate, full of all the antioxidants and blood pressure lowering qualities! relieve stress

Evaluate: We will in a world of habits. We can create and change them, or be enslaved to them. It is always good to evaluate what habits are serving you and which are causing you more stress.

Time Blocking: By placing time around the things we need to get done, we make sure to not allow the world to pull us in all different directions. We also create a cushion around our time tables that allow for unfortunate events, like traffic or the like. This can also be related to finances, having an emergency fund helps elevated the possible catastrophic events that will come up.

The Art of Saying “NO”: This is generally the foundation to our stresses. Most people have a hard time with telling people NO. Either because they don’t know how to do it nicely so they just don’t, or they are afraid to let someone down. I used to be this person. I was always afraid to disappoint someone, or that they wouldn’t think highly of me if I said I couldn’t do something for them. So I would stress myself and my family out so badly. I have come to learn that most people don’t really bat an eye when you tell them you can’t do something. The less information you give the better. A simple, “that actually won’t work for me, can I get back to you with some dates and times it will work better?” works absolute wonders! Learning how to say no gracefully and taking care of yourself and the things that you need done will elevate stress levels drastically.

Deep Breath Exercise: Like I mentioned before I don’t like to work out for 30 minutes at a time, and it is NEVER quite here long enough to get through even a short 15-minute meditation with my 5 small fries! 😊 But that doesn’t mean that both of those things aren’t EXTREMELY beneficial to relieving stress. So I made my own version of both! Combined! I call it my MOMENT!

I take 5 deeps breaths in and out and stretch. I get away from whatever it is I’m doing and close my eyes and calm my mind and body by breathing deeply. Then I stand up and stretch. Bend down and touch my toes and bend from side to side. Getting the blood rushing into all my muscles and especially my brain. This clears my mind and helps me remember that everything is truly okay!

This is the  list of things I do (sometimes multiple times a day) that truly help me relieve stress and find my happiness again! Those days are real. And they are hard.

Using multiple hampers keep your clothes off the floor and sorted in color and fabric category. You can find hampers at the dollar store. This saves a TON of time and frustration with sorting!



By putting socks in a lingerie bag sorting socks has never been easier! The 2 socks you put in never get lost in the laundry! Holy Cow!!! NO MORE SORTING SOCKS AND MISSING EVERY OTHER ONE!!!!! Just grab the bag out of the pile and put the socks together! No mess, no hassle!



You know that smell in your wash cloths and occasionally your towels? Yeah that one! It’s horrible, and sometimes super stubborn and hard to get out. I have friends who have rewashed the same things several times to get the smell out! Waste of time and money! Do this instead; throw about a cup of white vinegar into your wash or even into your fabric softener it will kill that musky and mildew smell instantly!!! Check out these other great uses for vinegar:


I have vivid memories of standing next to my mother as a young child, pen still in hand as she sprayed the white leather couch with hairspray to get out the ink rendering I had just created(I was an artist) 😋. This doesn’t just work for leather! You can spray clothes as well. Let them set after spraying to effortlessly lift the ink out. If you have little “artists” in your home like I do, this is a total life saver!

Dawn dish soap has been known to rescue animals from the oil spills in the ocean and clean the dirtiest messes in the kitchen. Add a drop to the grease splatters on your clothes! It works like a charm and your clothes will have no more grease!


The thought of needing to clean your washer that washes seems strange, but everything needs a wash every now and again. Use a cup of baking soda and ½ quart of vinegar to your washer on the highest heat and let sit for an hour. This will disinfect and remove scum and soap build up.

In the bible, it says David woke up early the day he slayed Goliath. Think about that. Think about the reason why it was even needed to be said that he woke up early.

You won’t slay your giants hitting the snooze button and lying in bed!

We all have giants. Some are so overwhelming we can’t think about them. Some we’ve put in closets with bolt locks and almost forgotten about them. Others have been on our to-do lists for weeks, possibly months. Moving them from one list to the next. But for some reason, reasons we may not even be able to answer, we don’t have the gumption to make ourselves overcome those giants.

I like to believe that anyone can become a morning person. In a world structured around people who wake up early it is not only a good idea, but a necessity.

Waking up is one of the hardest habits to cultivate. Done slowly and intentionally it can be done your own way and at your own pace.

Here’s how my typical morning used to go. The night before I would crawl into bed, grab my phone and set the alarm for 4:30, excited and motivated that I was going to get up early and get stuff done! I was going to work out, have coffee, meditate and pray all before anyone else in my house (5 kids and 1 husband) woke up.  The next morning dawned bright and early, and the most painful annoying sound to my ears (the cute ringtone I had liked the night before) disturbed my soul like an unexpected fire alarm. I quickly smashed the snooze button with my thumb. Looked at the ridiculously early time on my phone. Furious that it woke me, and completely annoyed with myself for being so ridiculous as to have set it for that time in the first place. There were no kids up, why in the world would I crawl out of my warm cocoon to work out?!! Just 5 more minutes!!

We seem to think as soon as our alarm goes off in the morning we will jump out of bed like Superman jumping out of a phone booth ready to conquer life challenges. This is never the case and it never will be. It isn’t just because you lack the drive. I heard once that a sleep deprived body acts similarly to an intoxicated one. This means that simply waking up early isn’t necessarily an option. To become a morning person and love it; you MUST create a routine and here’s how:

1. Find Out How Much Sleep Your Body Needs:

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.” Benjamin Franklin

No matter how hard you try you will not be able to go from waking up at 9 am to 4:30 or 5 every morning. This will only leave you exhausted. If you don’t know how much sleep you need already, experiment for a few days. I am an advocate for slow and steady change. I don’t ever like to be imposed upon, or at all uncomfortable! 😊

I like to take things slowly, change things gradually as to almost not notice that I have changed at all.

Being a Rebel, as I found out from a quiz I took by Gretchen Rubin, called the 4 Tendencies Quiz, helped me figure out how to be more productive.  I now know that this is who I am and to stop fighting it.  Figure out how much sleep is too much, and how much leaves you feeling energized. Be consistent. Go to sleep and wake up at the same time each day.

2. Find a Reason:

Let’s be honest. You aren’t going to wake up tomorrow morning bright eyes and bushy tailed just because you came across my post.

You must have a reason.

A drive for getting your body out of that warm and comfortable bed. When it is dark and cold outside you must have a real motivation for getting up. Set an intention the night before for exactly what it is that you want to achieve by waking up early.

Is it exercise? Journaling? Being creative? Getting organized before the storm of children crawl out of bed? Find your reason for wanting to get a head start with your day.

By making a to-do check list the evening before, you set a concrete intention of what you would like to accomplish when you have gotten up. Learning how to be a Time Ninja and prioritize helps you figure out WHY you want to start adding more hours to your day. Put check marks next to each task so that when you’ve accomplished them you get the satisfaction of putting that fantastic little  next to it. (That’s my favorite part!) 😊

3. You Need to Start Hydrating

The third way to become a morning person and love it is to get hydrated! When you wake up, you have been in a sedated state for at least 8 hours, so the first thing you need to do is hydrate. Go straight to the kitchen and make yourself a lemon water and start the coffee pot or tea kettle. This way you are waking up your brain, your stomach, and your liver and kidneys. By waking up your internal organs you are more likely to clear your mind and be able to start to make good decisions and choices.

4. Optimize Your Sleeping Environment

It’s time to shut off the screens. Do this about 1 hour before you lay down and shut the lights off. It is essential to shut off TV’s computers, laptops, iPads, kindles, and smart phones. The blue light from these devices drain your natural melatonin leaving you exhausted yet unable to sleep. The best thing to do before you fall asleep is read an actual book. Especially a self-help book as it will condition your brain for success even as you fall to sleep). If the last thing your brain was thinking about was improvement, your subconscious brain will dwell on that all night.

Get a white noise maker. This could be a fan or you can purchase a White Noise Maker. This is the best ones I’ve found so far, and I like that I can pack it and bring it where ever I go.

This is extremely beneficial for falling asleep as it helps drown out annoying sounds outside or in your home and it helps to relax your brain as it is hearing the same sound over and over. The white noise machine gives off the same sounds as a fan without the chilly breeze. I personally can’t sleep without one. The silence makes my ears ring!

Make the room COMPLETELY DARK. It is also essential that you darken the room as much as you possible can. You can purchase Darkening Drapes that help block out street lights or full moons. Or you can put a towel behind your existing drapes to help with this as well. Also remove any TV’s or fish tanks from your room.

5. Dress Warm

Most people dress in very little when going to sleep. Boxer shorts and a tank top or camisole are very common. This makes getting out of bed a torturous task. To become a morning person and love it; dress warm with long sleeves, and pants when going to bed. Have less covers if you tend to sleep on the warm side. But when it is time to throw the covers off and rise and shine you won’t feel so prone to getting warm and cozy again. This results in you drifting back to sleep!

If this repulses you because you are a naturally warm sleeper like my husband, then lay out your robe and slippers next to the bed. Because even if you are a warm sleeper you won’t want to get out of that cozy bed in the early morning hours.

6. Gradual Change

I said it before, but I think it’s worth reiterating! I can’t stand drastic abrupt change. I truly believe that real change comes from slow and small changes to build new habits.

I found that moving my bedtime and rise time slowly back by 15 or 30-minute increments I didn’t feel the change as drastically. I actually enjoyed the process and WANTED to get up earlier!! I also found my body waking up before my alarm because I had taken the time to go to bed just as early just as many hours I was waking up, allowing myself the rest I needed.


In conclusion, to become a morning person and love it takes intentionality and a thought out plan, but it doesn’t have to be bad! Look I get it. No one wants to get up early after a long hard day just to start another hard day. Yet there seems to be a theme in the lives of successful men and woman. A theme of self-sacrifice for the betterment of themselves. They worked hard to better themselves, so they could make the greatest difference in the lives of those they touched.

Getting up early seems arbitrary, and yet it holds a significant importance. When you can rise before the rest of the world you can accomplish more than the rest of the world.

I think it is safe to say that every person in modern society is saving something in their lives for a “special time.” People tend to put many things away for later.

Do you have a hutch full of china waiting for a special Christmas Dinner? Or a box of beautiful clothes that don’t fit anymore. Do you save the expensive candles for a romantic evening that never seems to happen? Are you waiting for life to happen?

My mother is a collector of beautiful dishware and home décor items. I watched as she decorated our home in lovely elegant items for my sisters and I. We are the grandmothers, mothers, friends, aunts, daughters, and mentors of woman all over the world who carry the responsibility of living and passing on this knowledge, and way of living.

On the radio I heard a man telling of his grandmother who had recently passed away. His voice expressed his sadness when he said, “and that time never came.”

Why do we wait? Why is today not very special? Who defines “special”? What may be special to me may not even be special to you. YOU define your special.

Stop WAITING for life to happen and realize that every day is a gift worth celebrating! Start making today a special time for you. Make moments into memories and stop letting them blend together.

Life only has to be ordinary if we choose for it to be. You can make any day extraordinary. What will you unbox today that you have been saving for a special time that may never come? What will you change to make today extraordinary?



What is “Self-Care”?


Is it manicures and massages? Is it silence and meditation? Or is it more than that?

Today I’d like to share something with you that I was personally not very good at.

I thought long and hard about even being qualified to write to you about this. I battled the thought of being hypocritical when it comes to telling you should do something that I found hard to do for myself.

Self-care is so much more than pampering your body.

Self-care is allowing yourself to sustain your life.

To figure out what it is you want on a deeper level than what to eat for dinner. The difference lies in the knowing what you should do and the actual doing it.

Self-care and the lack of it are all surrounded by the “should” word. Sometimes knowing what we should do for ourselves get put on the back burner. Sleep for instance is so easily neglected. Romance gets put to the side especially when you have kids. Budgeting your finances goes out the window when there’s no set goals or discipline. Friendships get pushed to the wayside when there’s dinner to be made.

Your connection to God becomes a mere memory when you are rushing through your mornings to get the kids on the bus. When life starts becoming a whirlwind. It’s the big ones that lose the most focus. Your personal internal needs. Your emotional needs. Having the conversations with yourself necessary for your creativity. Your emotional compass gets put in the back of a closet in a box for “later” when everyone else is taken care of.


Self-Care is showing yourself that you love you. Just like you would do something special for the love of your life and want them to be taken care of and shown affection and positive attention. You must be positive with yourself and show yourself that you matter!


There is no one else like you and you are a special soul unique in this world! Give yourself some time and care and respect to help your mindset live as a strong and able person completely loving and confident in all your abilities!


The word sustain has 2 very different and very powerfully meanings.

According to Google the word sustain means:


undergo or suffer (something unpleasant, especially an injury).

“he died after sustaining severe head injuries”

synonyms: undergo, experience, suffer, endure

“she sustained slight injuries”



strengthen or support physically or mentally.

“this thought had sustained him throughout the years”

synonyms: comfort, help, assist, encourage, succor, support, give strength to, buoy up, carry, cheer up, hearten;

informal buck up

“her memories sustained her”





I want you to take note of the first definition. To “undergo, experience, suffer, and endure.”

How close to home does this hit for you? I know for me it was extremely eye opening. I realized that most of my life could be described as one of those awful words. A mantra in my head that went round and round was “this too shall pass.” I was enduring most of my days. But my heart screamed for something more. It screamed to be assisted and supported through life.

Self-Care breaks down into 6 categories.

  • Physical Self-Care
  • Emotional Self-Care
  • Social Self-Care
  • Spiritual Self-Care
  • Practical Self-Care

Each are just as important as the next. Without intentional discipline to nurture and care for, our soul is lacking and “sustaining” the neglect. But trust me I can guarantee you that somewhere this neglect will show up somewhere in your body in different ways. Generally, in your health.

It wasn’t until I started to actually take the time for myself, to honor who I am, what I needed, what I wanted even that things in my life started to take a turn for the positive.

I am a natural giver. Before I make the smallest decision, I want to know what everyone else wants. Than based on that knowledge I will make a calculated decision as to the best choice. With generally no regard for what I want.

This got to be bad. It started to be that we didn’t go anywhere, do anything, watch anything, or even eat anything that I wanted because I was always too busy fulfilling the needs, wants, and desires of every other person in my life. My health, weight, and happiness were at rock bottom. I finally realized that I needed a change.

I think especially as moms, we tend to be this way in most cases. When we are in pain or suffering in some way, we tend to ignore it or neglect it and hope it just goes away.  Everything has an extreme however. Without proper self-care and nurturing of self-worth and personal love and appreciation, we can spiral down a never-ending rabbit hole of personal neglect.

So here’s the question now:


How do I want to go about honoring myself by starting to take time for SELF-CARE!? 🤔

The question isn’t about how or when anymore. It needs to be about how you want to do it.

My challenge for you is to set aside a day or a time that isn’t busy crazy day a day that’s more of a down day for you. Make it a commitment to yourself. A non-negotiable appointment to honor yourself as a woman.

Block to this time out: This is a time for you to ENJOY!

What is it that you enjoy? Getting a massage and your nails done is the perfect way to start. But than go deeper. Is it going to the beach? Getting your hair done? Silence? A love session with your husband? (I know, scheduling romance and sex? But let’s get real; sometimes it’s a necessity) Get a sitter, go on a date, and finish it with a long romantic session in the bedroom. Anything that gives you pleasure.

Is it making a detailed description of what you want your life to look like in 5 years while sitting at a coffee shop sipping a latte?

Do whatever it is that moves you to the front of the line in your life. It’s time to be done with being okay being at the bottom of the totem pole.  We can’t live like that anymore. We shouldn’t live like that anymore. It isn’t benefiting anyone to have you depleted. Are you brave enough to step out of your everyday comfort zone and start sustaining your life in a whole new way?




Time is our most precious asset. You can’t get more of it and everyone on the planet has the same amount of it!

I have a revelation for you! What you decide to do with your time is completely up to you! It may not seem like that but trust me it is true.


I have great news!

You have ALL the time that you need if you want to accomplish more!


Today I am going to share my favorite time management tips that allowed me to get a lot more done in shorter amounts of time, or at least let me get more focused in the short time periods I have to do so.

People are not magical. We are not born productive. No one comes into this world planned, scheduled, and successful in all they do. No this is learned! It’s a culture. A way of living. It’s a choice!

The biggest changes cannot happen without the first critical step:

If I believe something, then my actions will follow suit.

Look at people who have succeeded at life, make millions of dollars, write best sellers, courses, and business. It all seems to pop out of thin air to us, and we wonder how these people were “born” with so much talent, and “ability” to have such amazing lives. They all have the same thing in common. They ALL HAVE THE SAME MINDSET.

Successful people know that if they make the difficult choices now they will reap the benefits of it in their future. The difficult decisions like waking up early to get a head start on a big project, going to bed late to launch a new product. Making sure they don’t pick up their phones and get lost in the rabbit hole of social media. These decisions are the ones that pay off.

You have to have the mindset of success, the belief that your time is a priority and then take actionable steps to putting that time into practice

Time is our most valuable asset.

We can make a fortune and lose it all, yet we can make it all back again. We can lose our health and get it all back again. Our energy can diminish, but we can replenish it, we can even lose the loves our lives, yet find new love. However, time NEVER COMES BACK.





Some of the most famous words in the workplace are: “Gotta Minute?”


That is the number of minutes that we have. Each one of us have the same amount. No more. No less. People, circumstances, children, pets, spouses, chores, traffic, everything is trying to take a minute.

Everything in it’s time and place is important. Even sitting on the couch and relaxing is EXTREMELY important.

I cannot emphases enough to you the power of your calendar. In whatever form you like to use one. It can be on the fridge, on you phone or computer, on the wall it really doesn’t matter. You MUST start using it!


If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.” – Peter Drucker


The calendar is where you are going to plan and track every minute of your time. It is right there in front of you. You can see right there how much you should be using to sleep, how much is being given away to other people, how much is free and not being used.

Track every single thing that you do on your calendar. Just like your calorie app, tracking or journaling everything that you eat helps you see where you can make improvements, where you are going wrong, maybe even that you are not eating enough.

The same goes for your calendar. It gives you the clear and precise data of where your time is going, where it can be freed up, or even where there is free time that you aren’t using properly. Cause let’s be real. Those 4 hours you spend vegging on the couch in the evenings binge watching Netflix and Instagram stocking your friends you have to put that in your calendar and be honest with yourself that it is something that you did for 2 to 3 to 4 hours! 😊

The benefit of doing this is that then tomorrow you can think, what can I do today in that 4-hour time slot that would benefit me and my life more than Netflix! Is it finishing the laundry? Scrubbing the floor? Writing a blog post or creating YouTube videos? Taking the kids for a walk? Having a meaningful conversation with your spouse? You know what it is!


  1. Focus

So many things pull and distract us all day long. There are always a thousand things we can do at any given minute. We have more coming at us in one day than ever before in recorded history. The world has gotten smaller and we can easily access any remote corner of it at any given time. You can still get everything done in a day despite all your gadgets!

With the world shrinking and personal responsibilities rising, it is hard to know what to do first.

Here is where Focus comes into play. To be able to tackle any day’s schedule or list of tasks that seem overwhelming one of your greatest tools will be your focus.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t seem to be able to focus on things very long these days. We are apart of a “microwave” generation. 10 seconds is a life time. So here is my tip to you.

Focus for brief amounts of time. Set a timer for 5, 10, or even 25 minutes depending on your level of concentration, and the size of the task you are trying to tackle.  The Pomodoro Technique says that you are more prone to get things done if you are hyper focused for at least 25 minutes.  Give that thing your undivided attention and pure focus for those minutes you put on the timer. When the timer is up. Step away. Take a break. Do a different task. Go for a walk. Get a glass of water. Whichever you prefer or need.

Don’t bog yourself down. Forcing yourself to bog through when your focus has diminished only allows for you to become board, to procrastinate, or worse avoid a task that needs your attention.


  1. Prioritize


We all have our prioritizes in life.

It is important to take the time to put your largest priorities first! This is KEY!

First use your morning to focus on the most important thing of all…. YOU!

Do whatever makes you happy or fulfilled. Prayer, meditation, tea or coffee, hydration, stretching. Whatever you like, take care of yourself first.

Next; Do the most important things on your list first. The most important are usually the biggest most difficult and scariest things that we must get done. We generally tend to avoid them because of these things. But they are scary because they MATTER!

Sometimes people get hung up on trying to be more efficient. People think that by being efficient they’re being more productive. But this isn’t true!




What you do is infinitely more important than how you do it. Go with your own flow. If you work better with music rather than silence, do so. If you work better with short bursts of focus rather than sitting down till your brain is numb, do that! Be effective in your priorities.


  1. Keep Things Organized and Minimalized

You need a work space that is going to keep you productive not overwhelm you when you look at it. You need a space that you can get creative and really get to work when the time is right. That could be the kitchen, a desk space, an art studio, you name it, it needs to be organized and minimal, so you can really get to work when you decided to. Clear off away the clutter in all areas in your life. Don’t waste the precious time you DO have trying to find things that should have a home. Organize your work station to be the most efficient and productive possible.


  1. Reverse Engineer Your Time Line

By reversing your time line, you can see when and where the biggest things need to get done.

For instance:

  • Big Presentation June
  • Write notes
  • Research more on bullet points
  • Outline Topic Bullet Points

Than you can see at what points you need to work on things. By doing this I know that instead of writing on a to-do list Work on Presentation, which is overwhelming. Instead I know that first things first I need to write an outline my topics and create bullet points.

  1. Create a Ritual

Creating a ritual around your most productive times can really help you get into a flow state. Consider the environment or mood that you are creating when sitting down to really work on something.

For me I love to brew myself a cup of dark velvety coffee, clear off my work space, turn on some instrumental music that helps my brain to really be able to focus. I love having a plant near me, or something green. It makes me feel like sunshine is near me even on the greyest day.

I love having my certain pens and notebook near me for any ideas that pop up during my working time. Or being able to glance at my list of things that I prioritized during this work session of time I’ve allotted.

Sometimes we learn new things but fail to put them into practice. The key to success is applying your knowledge to your daily life. Your busy schedule is no joke. It’s real. And it’s important. So is everything that you can’t get done in a day from your schedule right now. By taking the time to be a bit more disciplined in your everyday habits you will manage to accomplish things you never thought you had the time for!

Are you so busy all the time, but when asked what you did that day or what is filling your schedule you can’t really answer?

I’m often asked how I accomplish all that I do in a day. Well, what I’m going to say is going to change your world! Yes, my friend, it is time to throw out your TO-DO list!

Getting things done and getting them done in at a quick pace is the key to accomplishing everything we need to get done in a day.

We all have 365 days in a year. We all have 24 hours in a day. Doesn’t it feel like sometime some people know how to get SOO much done in a day and sometimes it feels like such a chore just to get your bed made?!🤔

The key to being able to take on the world every day and accomplish everything you set out to achieve no matter what that is, is PRIORITIZING YOUR SCHEDULE!

Yes, prioritizing is the only thing that is going to help you get out of your head and get stuff done! Your to-do list is nothing more than a list of things staring you in the face with no rhyme or reason, no plan or strategy.   Looming over your head as a constant reminder of guilt and so called “busyness” we are all addicted to.

Prioritize Your Daily Schedule

Prioritizing is nothing more than setting plan and putting everything in its place of importance, relevance to your day, and urgency. This tells you what is important for you that day and forces you to tackle those important tasks. It’s a great way to stop procrastinating and also not get bored on big scary projects either! 😊

  • Take a list of paper and write out your regular to-do list on the left-hand side. Listing everything as you would normally.


  • Go to post office

  • Scrub toilet

  • Sign field trip permission slips

  • Call Mom

  • Clean out bathroom closet


  • Then on the right-hand side you are going to list those things in order of importance to that day. A),B),C).


  • A) Sign field trip permission slips

  • B) Go to post office

  • C) Call mom

  • D) Scrub toilet

  • E) Clean out bathroom closet


Next, you will make a third column and list everything in order of time-frame putting times that the most important things need to be accomplished and then adding the desired time you would like the remaining things accomplished by the end of the day. This creates a deadline for everything on your schedule and keeps your focused throughout the day.


  • A) Sign field trip permission slips  (8:00AM)

  • B) Go to post office (by 9:00AM)

  • C) Call mom (before 10:00AM)

  • D) Scrub toilet (by Noon)

  • E) Clean out bathroom closet (by 12:30PM)

After you have listed everything in its order of urgency you have your prioritized plan of action for the day. Now you can put it into a time-frame. Set 15 min. intervals for yourself to work on the larger more daunting tasks.

I like just using the timer on my phone and setting it in 15 minute intervals. I even use the 15 minute timer for half-hour tasks so that I know when I’m at the half-way point.

You’ll be shocked and amazed at how much you can fit into your daily schedule now! It’s like creating more time out of thin air for yourself! I love it! 😀

the power of prioritizing your schedule

I can’t stand huge projects. Cleaning out closets or painting rooms overwhelm and irritate me. So just like tons of other people, I put them off. I noticed however that the little things that don’t have such a huge impact on my entire day get done a lot easier, so I started tricking myself, to see if it would help. And guess what?! It did!!

I turn the timer on and put on some upbeat music. I tell myself that I’m only going to work on this “fill in the blank project” for 15 minutes and whatever I get done great, whatever is left is for tomorrow.

Surprise! Surprise! It almost ALWAYS gets done 5 minutes to 10 minutes into the timer!


It turned into a huge game where I would either race to beat the clock or get lost in the music and enjoyment of actually doing the thing that had been looming over my head for so long!

It’s really that simple! It only takes a couple extra minutes to do rather than a typical brain dump of a to-do list.

You will feel so much more organized and structured. You will know what is coming up, what is finished, and what you still need to accomplish every minute of every day! You will all of the sudden be that “put together parent”, that organized and always on top of it mom! Trust me prioritizing gets everything out of your head, on the paper, and in order!

Creating a prioritized schedule really takes no time at all and it makes us focus on what the day should look like and plan it out in a good order. Sometimes I create my prioritized schedule the night before and that way I sleep better knowing it is all written down. This method works great for the week and planning your month too! It’s a powerful tool for those of us feeling like sometimes the clock is just ticking too fast to get everything done!

It is no surprise if you have been around here at all that I have a thing for coffee!!  I have a love affair with my coffee. It’s my me time, it’s my personal moment. When all the world is pulling and pushing and demanding every second of every day from me it is the 10 minutes I get to breathe deeply, center my mind and just be. It is my Fika!

There is nothing like the smell of a fresh brew. The first couple sips of the hot velvety liquid hitting your lips and tongue. There is nothing like that personal silent moment of adoration as the steam tickles your nose and you breath ever so deeply the smells and sock in the moment of taking the time for yourself, and of course, your coffee!

See how Fika is different from Hygge! 

I recently learned of something that goes hand in hand with another concept I am in love with, Hygge. Yet it is all about, yep you guess it, COFFEE!! It’s called Fika and it is an intentional, and romanticized coffee break.

Fika basically means a coffee break. It usually takes place in the mid-morning around 10 or maybe even around 3 p.m. If you are really lucky you might get to have a “akvallsfika” (a night time coffee break) in the evening too!!

What Fika is All About

It’s more than just a coffee break like the American’s do. It’s more of a Hygge Coffee Break. (What’s Hygge?) It is taking the time to stop what you are doing, get cozy, indulge in the little luxuries of life such a piece of cake, or cookies, heavy whipping cream and sugar in your coffee, but most of all surrounding yourself with fabulous company.

Drinking coffee is not enough with Fika, it is a Swedish Tea Time. You must have something savory or sweet to munch on. Small sandwiches, or cake. Even cinnamon rolls. As long as you are eating something while drinking and talking with people you enjoy you have accomplished Fika.

In the work place Fika is a great way to get to know your coworkers, mingle and chat. At home it is a fantastic way to reconnect with your spouse after a long day of being apart, and in the evening, it is a perfect way to recharge for the evening bedtime routine ahead, whatever that may mean for you.

To the Swedish to Fika is to go out for coffee, to mingle, to get into society. It is an ageless tradition. Children, middle aged and elderly enjoy this break together each day. It is a Swedish lifestyle. If you can’t make it to a coffee shop multiple times a day, don’t worry. You can Fika in your own way as long as you change up your environment, change up your company, and of course have a hot cup of coffee and a special treat!

Fika is a way of being mindful, it’s a way of being intentional. It’s a way of being nice to yourself and taking care of yourself. Life is busy. It can pull us in a thousand different directions each day. You would greatly benefit by adding Fika to your life. Who will it hurt if you decided to go in the coffee shop and sit at a table, putting your phone away, not bringing in your laptop, and just people watching for 15 minutes. Who will it disturb for you to take the time for yourself, just a couple minute each day to stop and enjoy. Today will be over in hours. Never to be lived again. Will you decided to add this small intentional break to your life?
