How to Create a Habit

It doesn’t matter where we are in the path of life, looking ahead we want to be the best we can be. When I think about my future even next week, it looks happier, cleaner, more productive, healthier, and more organized that it is today! To get there we need to do as the pro’s do!

So, let’s look at some of the Habits of Highly Successful People.

  1. Figuring Out What YOU WANT

Highly successful people know what it is that they are working for each day. Have a detailed thought out plan. Visualize and dream. Map out your future either tomorrow, next week, or 5 years from now.

Mindlessly going through life day in and day out always tackling the same issues with no resolve, spinning on a hamster wheel is the life of average people.

Get off the hamster wheel and lay out that road map for your future.Habits of Highly Successful People

  1. Reviewing Your Goals

Hand write you goals regularly. You’re less likely to veer away from your goals if you are continually seeing them and recreating them. Post them on your fridge or nightstand. Keep them always at the center of your mind and close to your heart! For example; If you have a goal for saving money keep the specifics of this goal written down, you will be less like to impulse buy at the store!

If you have a big goal, write it down in doable steps and track your progress! This will keep you motivated and give yourself some “wins” while reaching your larger goal!

  1. Prioritizing Sleep

This is a huge big one, and most people don’t do it. We live in a fast-paced world where all hours of the day can be swallowed up by something. However, the most productive and successful people put their bodies and minds first and this includes sleep. Allowing you to be your most alert and focused self. Enough sleep isn’t “just getting by” it’s ample amounts. You need to find your personal sweet spot, however many hours you need to feel refreshed and focused.

Waking up and getting everything, you want done in a day is great, but not if you are groggy, exhausted and crabby. You can read How to Get Everything Done in a Day HERE.

how to get everything you want done in a day

When that 5 am alarm goes off, you want to be ready to seize the day to the best of your ability.

  1. Workout

People who are successful schedule time to move their bodies. This isn’t just for staying fit and attractive, it goes deeper. It clears your mind, gets you away from technology, gets your blood pumping and helps you get creative. You HAVE TO SCHEDULE this by Prioritizing Your Schedule. You can learn how to do that by reading How To Prioritizing Your Schedule. When it comes to working out, it is more of a habit than anything else. Unless you are one of those rare people who enjoys working out! It all starts with a habit. Habits are wonderful and magical things that can ruin or transform your life. Learn How to Create a Habit HERE, and you will find harder tasks much easier to tackle.

  1. Reading

This one is another Biggy. Most people don’t LOVE to read. It boars people, and they find that they could be getting other more “fun” things done with their time. However, reading is a proven method to keep the mind sharp. What you read you become. Reading especially before bed sinks into your subconscious mind. According to the Business Insider “…those who read consistently exhibit significantly greater memory and mental abilities at all stages in life. They’re also better public speakers, thinkers and, according to some studies, better people in general.” You can read the rest of the article HERE.

  1. Scheduling Email

Successful DO NOT live a reactive lifestyle. They schedule people in. People don’t just “happen” to the most highly successful people. They don’t set a precedence for being the fastest responders, and they are very strategic with their response. Never allowing others to weasel or even dictate their time and schedules.

  1. Dependability

This one is huge in life. More people flake out on a commitment than those who follow through. When you can say yes to an opportunity you have the opportunity to prove your character. Learning to say “NO” to the things you don’t want to do, or the things that you don’t feel is a good fit for you is a mature and adult thing to do. Saying yes and then bailing causes you to be undependable and flaky. Highly successful people are always dependable and have a reputation for knowing what they want and don’t want. They don’t allow themselves to take on tasks or schedule events that won’t benefit them. When they do say yes they mean it and follow through.

  1. Focustime management focus

It’s time to get disciplined with your focus. It all starts with scheduling. Schedule your time, and then be honest and honor yourself with actually doing it. I recently turned all off notifications on my phone. YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram you name it, it’s been silenced. I get at least 50% to 75% more done because of this. Allow yourself the freedom to focus on the task at hand.

  1. Hand-Pick Your Circle of Friends

The 5 people you spend the most time with are the people who shape and influence your life. These people need to be carefully picked.

Who in your life is not helping you reach your highest potential?

Who in your life is weighing you down even in the slightest?

The most highly successful people do the hardest things, cutting people out of your life, or lessening time with them can be one of the hardest things you can do. Which do you want to be, popular among people who aren’t good for you, or one of the most successful people you know?

  1. Prioritize “Me” Time

Highly successful people know when they have been spread too thin. They know that they require time to do WHATEVER it is that they love. This is the time for binge watching Netflix, reading a novel, going out for drinks with friends. Life isn’t always about working, and it certainly isn’t about doing for other people so much that you forget who you are. Prioritizing that time to take a bubble bath or a long shower are habits that highly successful people do every day. What does “Me Time” look like to you? 7 Things They Never Taught You in School About Money

We spend 12 to 16 years in school on average. I don’t know about you, but I never once learned about how to get rich, retire comfortable, or even budget my personal finances. So today we are going to go over the 7 things they never taught you in school about money!

Ever since the day I got married I have been on a quest to see how I can save the most money possible. Saving money and budgeting is a game and a job all rolled into one.

It’s a game because you must keep coming up with strategies for doing it differently or correctly over and over. You are always on the hunt for the cheapest option or best deal. You must keep tweaking the budget, finding alternatives and adjusting your habits. It all boils down to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!

It’s a job because it’s an everyday conscience effort to make sure your money isn’t flowing out of your hands as fast as it is coming in or faster! It’s such a fulltime job my husband nicknamed me the “Stay-at-Home Economist”!

Recent research suggests that more than 25 million middle-class Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.

Becoming free from the chains of living paycheck to paycheck takes diligence and discipline.

Here are some things that I have found extraordinarily helpful to help me turn the tables and get ahead of that paycheck!

7 THings They Never Taught You in School About Money

1: Identify and Cut the Waste in Your Budget

This one is huge. Waste in our everyday lives costs huge amounts of money.

I am always on the lookout for wastefulness. Having children makes it even harder to staying on top of this! Plates of food, running faucets of water while brushing teeth, 3 loads of dishes a day!!

Food alone can break the bank account!

Did you know on average a family throws away $2,200 of food a year?! That’s over 300lbs of food! Which is broken down to 20 lbs. of food per person in the U.S. every month!

I don’t know about you, but I don’t like grocery shopping enough to warrant throwing away 20 lbs. of food per person in my family each month!!

Just by being more aware of waste will greatly help you reduce it and save money.

Check out How to Cut Your Grocery Bill in Half!!!!

2: Put Your Wasted Money to Work For You

By saving what you would normally be spending on wasteful behaviors you can put it aside into your savings, or retirement, or have that money start to work for you. Then in time these accounts will be able to become investment accounts and soon your money will snowball into making money for you! How exciting right?!

3: Consider Cash Flow

This one is a game changer. Get organized when it comes to your cash flow.

Knowing what bills are coming out and when you are getting paid so there is an even flow throughout the whole month, not only brings a peace of mind, but saves money. This way you are not “rich” one weekend and “poor” the next!

Over draft fees and bounced check fees are a ridiculous waste of money that nobody can afford!

This can all be avoided by creating a budget. If you are looking for a quick and easy (non-techy) way of starting a budget you can read my budgeting post by CLICKING HERE.  The budget will help you know what is coming out, what is going in, and when to tighten all the reigns. However; this action is not enough on it’s own. What took us a while in the early years is ACTUALLY STICKING TO THE BUDGET! Sure, it’s great to see the spending plan on paper, but it’s a whole other ballgame to live by what is on that paper!

4: Add Income

This one is personal and can only be determined by you and your family life. I can’t tell you how many times my husband and I have battled the ever-unresolved discussion of whether one of us should get another job.

The timing must be right for you and your life.

However, if this is a possibility for you, adding a second part-time income would change your finances drastically. This money should be used completely for getting ahead and reaching your goals! It is easy to just let it go towards the “lifestyle” and forget that there is any extra money coming in at all.

Seriously, how many of us have been excited about a raise only to look back a month later wondering how the heck we made ends meet without it? This is the mistake of letting the “lifestyle” rise to the income level rather than setting a modest lifestyle to reach long-term goals with extra money. It takes consistency and self-discipline, as well as a clear vision and focus on what we really want!

If your life doesn’t allow for you to get another job, you can check out my post: 9 Side-Hustles You Can Do From The Comfort Of Your Bed7 Things They Never Taught You in School About Money

5: Get a Month Ahead

This one can be a bit painful the first month. You will have to make the “rice and bean” kinds of sacrifices to be able to do it. But after you have that extra month in the bank, in a separate account, you create what Dave Ramsey calls a “buffer between you and Murphy.” Getting a month ahead was what was key to my husbands and my own peace of mind and feeling like we had a bit of control.

6: Automate Your Savings

Learning your options for automating your saving is a fantastic hack for getting a savings account good and healthy. Sometimes things like putting money to savings needs to be automatic in order for us to do them. One of the biggest obstacles for people getting their adult life together is that they think it is just too hard, or that they don’t have the right tools to do it.

When it comes to money, the truth is that 90% of the battle is just getting the key automated systems into place. Once you set them up most money actions don’t need to be thought about that much, especially if you choose the right ones. StashInvest is a fantastic way to save money without really thinking about it. It’s an organizational app that allows you to save, budget, and organize your finances all in one crisp and clean app. I highly recommend this app as it has everything all in one, and you can start with as little as $5.

7: Dream With Your Goals

This one is just as important as the rest. It may seem superficial and not necessary to mention, but without a dream there is no vison. By keeping your eye on the ball, you most definitely will succeed.

Life has it’s ups and downs, it’s ebb and flow. There will be months it seems smooth, dare I say easy. And months you think nothing else could possibly go wrong. Getting out of the paycheck to paycheck life and putting some cushion between you and what life throws at you bring you peace. Setup smaller achievable goals with your money that lead to those big dreams that you have in you heart!

These 7 things they never taught you in school about money can be a life saver when applied to your finances. I’d love to hear if you were taught any of these things in school? I’d love to know if any of these steps helped you to move forward in your finances. Please drop me an email or leave a comment and let me know of any steps you’ve learned in your adult life that you didn’t learn in school that have helped you transform your money situation!

7 TRICKS YOU NEED TO BE A TIME NINJA

7 TRICKS YOU NEED TO BE A TIME NINJA

Time is our most precious asset. You can’t get more of it and everyone on the planet has the same amount of it!

I have a revelation for you! What you decide to do with your time is completely up to you! It may not seem like that but trust me it is true.

I have great news!

You have ALL the time that you need if you want to accomplish more!

Today I am going to share my favorite time management tips that allowed me to get a lot more done in shorter amounts of time, or at least let me get more focused in the short time periods I have to do so.

People are not magical. We are not born productive. No one comes into this world planned, scheduled, and successful in all they do. No this is learned! It’s a culture. A way of living. It’s a choice!

The biggest changes cannot happen without the first critical step:

1: Mindset

time management Mindset

Our behaviors follow our beliefs. This is gospel. so, I think it deserves a repeat.

Our Behaviors Follow our Beliefs.

If I believe something, then my actions will follow suit.

Look at people who have succeeded at life, make millions of dollars, write best sellers, courses, and business. It all seems to pop out of thin air to us, and we wonder how these people were “born” with so much talent, and “ability” to have such amazing lives. They all have the same thing in common. They ALL HAVE THE SAME MINDSET.

Successful people know that if they make the difficult choices now they will reap the benefits of it in their future. The difficult decisions like waking up early to get a head start on a big project, going to bed late to launch a new product. Making sure they don’t pick up their phones and get lost in the rabbit hole of social media. These decisions are the ones that pay off.

You have to have the mindset of success, the belief that your time is a priority and then take actionable steps to putting that time into practice

Time is our most valuable asset.

We can make a fortune and lose it all, yet we can make it all back again. We can lose our health and get it all back again. Our energy can diminish, but we can replenish it, we can even lose the loves our lives, yet find new love. However, time NEVER COMES BACK.

 2: YOUR CALENDAR

Some of the most famous words in the workplace are: “Gotta Minute?”

1,440

That is the number of minutes that we have. Each one of us have the same amount. No more. No less. People, circumstances, children, pets, spouses, chores, traffic, everything is trying to take a minute.

Everything in it’s time and place is important. Even sitting on the couch and relaxing is EXTREMELY important.

I cannot emphases enough to you the power of your calendar. In whatever form you like to use one. It can be on the fridge, on you phone or computer, on the wall it really doesn’t matter. You MUST start using it!

If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.” – Peter Drucker

The calendar is where you are going to plan and track every minute of your time. It is right there in front of you. You can see right there how much you should be using to sleep, how much is being given away to other people, how much is free and not being used.

Track every single thing that you do on your calendar. Just like your calorie app, tracking or journaling everything that you eat helps you see where you can make improvements, where you are going wrong, maybe even that you are not eating enough.

The same goes for your calendar. It gives you the clear and precise data of where your time is going, where it can be freed up, or even where there is free time that you aren’t using properly. Cause let’s be real. Those 4 hours you spend vegging on the couch in the evenings binge watching Netflix and Instagram stocking your friends you have to put that in your calendar and be honest with yourself that it is something that you did for 2 to 3 to 4 hours! 😊

The benefit of doing this is that then tomorrow you can think, what can I do today in that 4-hour time slot that would benefit me and my life more than Netflix! Is it finishing the laundry? Scrubbing the floor? Writing a blog post or creating YouTube videos? Taking the kids for a walk? Having a meaningful conversation with your spouse? You know what it is!

  1. Focus

time management focus

So many things pull and distract us all day long. There are always a thousand things we can do at any given minute. We have more coming at us in one day than ever before in recorded history. The world has gotten smaller and we can easily access any remote corner of it at any given time. You can still get everything done in a day despite all your gadgets!

With the world shrinking and personal responsibilities rising, it is hard to know what to do first.

Here is where Focus comes into play. To be able to tackle any day’s schedule or list of tasks that seem overwhelming one of your greatest tools will be your focus.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t seem to be able to focus on things very long these days. We are apart of a “microwave” generation. 10 seconds is a life time. So here is my tip to you.

Focus for brief amounts of time. Set a timer for 5, 10, or even 25 minutes depending on your level of concentration, and the size of the task you are trying to tackle.  The Pomodoro Technique says that you are more prone to get things done if you are hyper focused for at least 25 minutes.  Give that thing your undivided attention and pure focus for those minutes you put on the timer. When the timer is up. Step away. Take a break. Do a different task. Go for a walk. Get a glass of water. Whichever you prefer or need.

Don’t bog yourself down. Forcing yourself to bog through when your focus has diminished only allows for you to become board, to procrastinate, or worse avoid a task that needs your attention.

  1. Prioritize

We all have our prioritizes in life.

It is important to take the time to put your largest priorities first! This is KEY!

First use your morning to focus on the most important thing of all…. YOU!

Do whatever makes you happy or fulfilled. Prayer, meditation, tea or coffee, hydration, stretching. Whatever you like, take care of yourself first.

Next; Do the most important things on your list first. The most important are usually the biggest most difficult and scariest things that we must get done. We generally tend to avoid them because of these things. But they are scary because they MATTER!

Sometimes people get hung up on trying to be more efficient. People think that by being efficient they’re being more productive. But this isn’t true!

BEING EFFECTIVE IS MORE PRODUCTIVE THAN BEING EFFICIENT

What you do is infinitely more important than how you do it. Go with your own flow. If you work better with music rather than silence, do so. If you work better with short bursts of focus rather than sitting down till your brain is numb, do that! Be effective in your priorities.

  1. Keep Things Organized and Minimalized

7 ways to become a time ninja3

You need a work space that is going to keep you productive not overwhelm you when you look at it. You need a space that you can get creative and really get to work when the time is right. That could be the kitchen, a desk space, an art studio, you name it, it needs to be organized and minimal, so you can really get to work when you decided to. Clear off away the clutter in all areas in your life. Don’t waste the precious time you DO have trying to find things that should have a home. Organize your work station to be the most efficient and productive possible.

  1. Reverse Engineer Your Time Line

By reversing your time line, you can see when and where the biggest things need to get done.

For instance:

  • Big Presentation June
  • Write notes
  • Research more on bullet points
  • Outline Topic Bullet Points

Than you can see at what points you need to work on things. By doing this I know that instead of writing on a to-do list Work on Presentation, which is overwhelming. Instead I know that first things first I need to write an outline my topics and create bullet points.

  1. Create a Ritual

Creating a ritual around your most productive times can really help you get into a flow state. Consider the environment or mood that you are creating when sitting down to really work on something.

For me I love to brew myself a cup of dark velvety coffee, clear off my work space, turn on some instrumental music that helps my brain to really be able to focus. I love having a plant near me, or something green. It makes me feel like sunshine is near me even on the greyest day.

I love having my certain pens and notebook near me for any ideas that pop up during my working time. Or being able to glance at my list of things that I prioritized during this work session of time I’ve allotted.

To sum up how to become a time ninja and accomplish everything you ever wanted to with your time:

  1. Manage Your Mindset

  2. Keep Your Calendar

  3. Fine Tune Your Focus

  4. Prepare and Prioritize

  5. Keep Things Organized

  6. Reverse Engineer Your Time

  7. Create A Ritual

Sometimes we learn new things but fail to put them into practice. The key to success is applying your knowledge to your daily life. Your busy schedule is no joke. It’s real. And it’s important. So is everything that you can’t get done in a day from your schedule right now. By taking the time to be a bit more disciplined in your everyday habits you will manage to accomplish things you never thought you had the time for!

I wish you all the success and happiness in your daily life!

HOW TO CREATE A HABIT

We are, what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. -Will Durant

The latest surveys show that 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail by the second week of February.

Does that mean that you shouldn’t make a new year’s resolution because you only have an average 20% success rate? NO! So how then can you keep it? What chance do you have at succeeding at a goal in your life? The answer is: through your actions.

We will see big change through creating a habit of smaller consistencies that we do on a daily basis! Climbing a mountain takes every step to get to that final goal of reaching the top, but it still takes every single, step. It takes discipline and determination in our daily struggles to change our lives!

I’m not one to go out and get a Starbucks Latte every morning (although I have been known to treat myself) however I’m a huge Kurig pod coffee lover! So how we saved hundreds by changing this one coffee habit is NOT about how we just didn’t go out for coffee because we were already smart enough to avoid that expense!

I used to drink a half-pot to a pot of coffee a day depending on the stress level or business of that day. When the Kurig machine hit store shelves I switched to that and never looked back! That being said, for someone who drinks as much coffee as I do, This was quite an expensive habit! And I wasn’t even “going out” for coffee!

SAVED HUNDREDS BY CHANGING THIS ONE COFFEE HABIT

Some time ago I was going over our budget with my husband and as always we were looking at how we could change some of our habits and save some money. Our food budget is usually what we land on for flexibility and where we can change our meal planning or shopping habits. Be sure to check out How We Cut Our Grocery Bill IN HALF!!!

I realized I was buying around 2- 12 pod boxes of kurig coffee pods a week (it’s really not that much when you have a big coffee cup). So doing the calculations:

1 coffee pod box cost around $7.50 (for a non-decadent brand)

x 2 per week = $15.00 per week

4 weeks = 1 month so $15.00 x 4 = $60 per month of coffee! Yikes!!!

But hey if you are buying a Latte at the coffee shop every day you actually spend so much more than that!

I decided this coffee habit had to change! No I did not stop drinking coffee! I could never do that! I started looking at how to get a cheaper cup of coffee without taking away the bold flavor and convenience that the Kurig cups have to offer.  I found some options that were not great and was also not willing to settle for the super cheap Kurig cups that taste like coffee flavored water either.

If there was a word for foodie in the coffee world, that would be me!

I came across these AMAZING cup filters that make for a cheap cup of coffee but do not diminish any flavors or taste!

2 Solofill K3 Chrome CUP Chrome Refillable Filter Cup for Keurig-r (RED, 2)

These are by far the best ones that I have ever used (and I tried several early on). These don’t leave any grounds in the coffee and are super easy to fill and clean. Now I can buy coffee grounds that are so much cheaper and last longer than the pod boxes that seemed to rapidly leave my home!To do the quick math:1 bag of grounds per week = $4.50

$4.50 per week x4 = $18.00 per month (We don’t even use a full bag in a week)

$60.00 – 18.00 = $42.00 per month!

That means each month I am saving $42!!! And you can save even more if you currently get your morning coffee out of the house!

So let’s take the savings of 42 dollars per month and see what I have saved each year by making the switch:

$42 x 12 months = $504.00!!!

That’s over 500 dollars saved per year in our food budget by changing this one coffee buying habit! My husband and I have both been extremely pleased with how we saved hundreds by changing this one coffee habit that we have recommended this to all of our family members! The financial results are really amazing and this is just ONE way to save some big money! We are always looking for more great tips and tricks to save some extra money and better support our family!

How to Lose Weight Without Dieting (Especially If You Weigh Over 200 lbs)

This post contains affiliate links. See Affiliate Disclaimer

Have you tried every diet under the sun? If you weigh over 200 pounds and you feel like you are at your wits end with trying to lose weight, and having it backfire on you over and over again, then this article is for you.

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • Even though you set goals you never see any progress?
  • You watch desperately as the scale creeps up farther and father and you feel helpless.
  • Your greatest wish is to break free from the chains of discomforting fat, achieve your greatest dream, fit into clothes you love, and be able to move with ease and grace.

All of this is possible for you. It doesn’t feel that way, but I promise it is.

Have you heard? The game of weight loss has changed! Did anyone tell you?

1st things 1st. I want you to take everything you think you know about weight loss and throw it out the window!!!

Okay, now let’s start with that fresh slate.

I’m going to take you through a new and wonderful blueprint that you can follow and see great results. This blueprint has been proven, scientifically and by many people who have had hundreds of pounds fall off.

Gone are the days of starving and endless workouts at a humid sticky gym. Gone are the days of deprivation from everything you love and never seeing more than 5 pounds drop off the scale.

Are you ready? It is all EMOTIONAL

Your body wants to be what it is. It doesn’t care what the latest trend is. Your body keeps you safe no matter what that happens to be for you.

Here is a list of actionable steps to encourage your body to want to be thin.

  1. Stop Cardio!

That feels as good to type as it does to read! Exercise isn’t for weight loss it’s for toning and muscle building. With over 50 lbs or more to lose all the cardio in the world won’t help you lose weight. All its going to do is stress your joints and discourage your journey.

Recent studies done by Current Biology have shown that exercise plays absolutely no major role in weight loss what-so-ever.

This is not to say that exercise isn’t healthy or beneficial. On the contrary everyone should move their bodies and get some form of exercise each and every day. However, working out for endless hours putting strain on your joints and bones is doing nothing in the way of weight loss. So put it off for now.

  1. Leptin Resistance

Hormones play an enormous factor in weight loss and weight gain for that matter.

Leptin is a hormone that regulates hunger and energy. It sends 2 messages to the brain.

  1. I’m hungry we need to eat soon
  2. We have eaten enough and have energy to burn let’s move!

Where has this hormone been hiding you ask? Unfortunately, leptin is silenced when there is insulin resistance in the body.

There is a huge link to leptin resistance and obesity

This is why we focus on diet first, exercise comes after.

By eating lots of lean proteins, adding live foods to every meal, and good probiotics you will cure leptin resistance and heal your body deficiencies.

  1. Insulin Resistance

We know what you’re thinking; of course, here we go with hating on carbs!

But here’s the deal. 90% of all people who weight over 200 lbs are insulin resistant. So, it’s pretty likely you are too.

This makes every carbohydrate you eat work in the opposite effect and instead of giving you energy, it creates glue in your system.

According to Dr. Berg this can lead to a lot of other pretty nasty problems like diabetes and metabolic resistance.

YOU NEED A CARBOHYDRATE DETOX

It’s time to cut carbs.

A good month or 2 without carbohydrates will help your body in repairing itself.

You can start to add them back in slowly as you see progress and your hormones have leveled out. By detoxing the body and resetting it you can greatly improve your health in drastic ways.

  1. Leaky Gut

Another thing you are more than likely experiencing if you weight over 200 lbs is leaky gut syndrome.

This sounds disgusting and scary. But don’t worry.

All it means is that your body isn’t processing and absorbing the nutrients from the food that you need.

                It’s super simple to cure.

All you need is to cut all processed sugars and grains, and add a strong quality probiotic.

That’s it! Super simple!

  1. Walk, Walk, Walk

The power of walking has been pushed to the wayside as other trends have taken flight. But walking has always been the back bone of any thin, fit, and healthy society. It has also been the main form of transportation since the beginning of time.

It is surprisingly powerful for weight loss

There are many benefits to walking such as helping with high cholesterol, mood, creativity, posture. However, if you are over 200 lbs. walking is a light and comforting way to move your blood, and muscles without hurting yourself.

  1. Diets Don’t Work

You are an emotional being. You have past programs, you have a personal blueprint that is unique to you and only you. There is an underlying reason you can’t lose weight and it’s mainly emotional.

Our entire lives are made up of how we feel about things. What we like, don’t like. How we were treated as children, or recently.

Your weight loss journey isn’t scientific, it’s emotional just as you are.

Your body will not let you lose weight if it doesn’t want to be thin.

This is becoming more and more widely accepted as truth among doctors and scientist as thousands of people are seeing success with this concept.

Jon Gabriel is a pioneer in this thought process and has helped countless people lose hundreds of pounds.

After a lifetime of searching for the weight loss key, Jon discovered that diet is not the answer. He proceeded on his own personal search for what was the answer and succeeded at melting 220 lbs without diet or surgery. He just recently celebrated 10 years of successfully keeping it off and continues to teach people the same concept.

You can read more about him here.

The bigger you are the more emotional blockages you have, preventing you from letting go of the weight.

Consider seriously looking into this. You have nothing to lose accept massive amounts of cumbersome weight.

I truly wish you a successful journey on your path to weight loss.

It is difficult to find quality information for people who have more weight to lose than the average 20 pounds. If you have any questions or concerns I would be more than happy to help direct you to finding proper answers.

11 Steps to a more organized year

11 STEPS TO A MORE SIMPLIFIED AND ORGANIZED YEAR

I’ve been doing a lot of goal setting/researching lately on how to make this year the best one yet! Life gets in the way of our happiness a lot, at least in my world. Things seem to go a million miles an hour and at the end of the day it was all just a busy blur…I decided to try to change that this year by “smelling the roses” a little bit more. Making life easier and more simplified in a practical way. Here are 11 awesome ideas that I am trying to incorporate into my life and maybe they will help you out in your struggle for more daily peace:

GET RID OF CLUTTER

Make it a habit and personal rule to keep your house clean all the time. This can be a challenge specially if you have children in the house. But by getting rid of the clutter on the counter tops, bathroom vanities and end tables you will see a dramatic increase in the visual clutter and stress the room has. Make it a point to get rid of anything not regularly used or find a home out of sight for it.  Think outside the box when it comes to finding homes in small spaces. Tops of linin closet shelves, you know the ones that you can’t reach without a stool, are a great use for vases, pans that you only use once a year, bulk dry goods, or toiletries.

Don’t under estimate the power of under bed storage. Thin flat bins are great for sliding under the bed with extra clothes, wrapping paper, even extra towels and wash clothes.

BECOME DEBT FREE

Becoming debt free is a mental decluttering. By eliminating the extra stress of on time payments, or even finding the money for the monthly payment you eliminate the extra paperwork. You also get to keep your hard-earned money allowing you the opportunity for financial growth and freedom.

LEARN TO SAY NO AND CLEAR TIME IN YOUR SCHEDULE FOR YOU

This one is hard for many people. There is always an underlining sense of guilt when it comes to saying “no” to someone. The fine art of using the word “no” could not be a more powerful tool in your vocabulary. By learning what is a healthy amount of time and activities spent out of the house, or entertaining others in your home, you can live a healthier dynamic family life. You and your personal time is extremely important to your health and mental well-being. Make time for yourself. Learn the fine art of the powerful word “no.”

LESSEN YOUR TIME AROUND TOXIC PEOPLE

We all know someone in our circle of acquaintances that is plain toxic.

For some it may be a co-worker or boss. For others a parent or sibling, and for others they be in a romantic relationship with someone who’s personality and selfishness is purely toxic.

Whomever it is that makes you suffer in some way or another it is time to be strong and start putting some distance between you.

Sometimes you absolutely can’t get away from them. If it’s your parent or boss, you may be stuck for a long time with the unhealthy dynamic of toxic person. However, if you have friends that you are starting to see are unhealthy to be around, negative, bad influences, selfish, and soul sucking it is time to cut the cord.

If it is the former, and you are in a relationship with someone either professionally or maternally than you may need to get some help. Standing up for yourself, setting distance and boundaries can be nearly impossible when it comes to narcissistic people, but if you stay strong and above all positive you will see changes I promise.

SIMPLIFY YOUR WARDROBE

This one seems superficial, yet there is a great relief in knowing what you are wearing when you get out of bed. Having so many items that you don’t know what you have let alone what to wear is an overwhelming stress added task in our daily lives. It requires more time in getting ready for the day. It requires for time shopping because we don’t even know what we have. It requires for work in washing things we’ve worn.

By slimming down your clothes, choosing only what you love, and what is functional with other things, you free up space, time, and energy each day. Simplify your morning and over all your daily life.

MAKE A TO DO LIST

Setting goals each day that you need to get done help you to always know what you are doing and where you are going next. It’s like planning out a vacation, you have an itinerary and a location to which you are traveling. Each day is a similar concept. By planning out your day you set up an itinerary for yourself, mapping out your accomplishments one by one.

MINIMIZE YOUR BELONGINGS

This one feels daunting especially after the holidays and into a new year. It can be a real undertaking, but it is one of the most freeing feelings to bring bags and bags of donations to the thrift store! Things you don’t need, haven’t used in forever, or ever, and things you can replace with new things that have multiple functions! Get creative and research for gadgets that can replace several things. Get intentional about your belongings, if you don’t need it, use it and love it, it’s got to go!

SPEND LESS TIME ON SOCIAL MEDIA

We spend so many hours on social media as a society. But many studies have shown that people can get anxiety from too many hours of social media. This is because of the lack of sustaining fulfillment that social media brings.

Why not make a conscience choice to power down every day at some point and be present. Engage with friends and family and take care of yourself physically. Other people’s moment to moment play by play is an unnecessary stress on your life.

GET OUTSIDE

Getting outside each day is extremely beneficial to your health and well-being. There is nothing more simple and relaxing than stepping into nature. The air is clean and fresh, the sounds are natural and calming, the sun is loaded with vitamins and minerals. Simplify your life by touching nature each day.

AUTOMATE YOUR PAYMENTS

A great way to organize you bills and payments is to put them on auto-pay. Most people get stressed out thinking about payments and late fees. By putting your bills on auto pay and getting direct deposit, you can remove all the worry and stress that organizing bills and payments can bring.

PRACTICE THE 2 WEEK RULE AND FRUGALITY

Becoming disciplined is the key rule to simplifying and organization. By practicing self-discipline, you can avoid so many pit-falls. One of the best ways to practice this is to practice the 2-week rule.

If there is something that you want to purchase but it isn’t a necessity, wait 2 weeks. By the end of the 2 weeks you will probably have forgotten all about it or discovered that you didn’t want it in the first place.  Living above our means is one of the biggest stresses of life. Live below your means at all cost, no matter how temping and you will have a simpler and less stressful life.

6 Secrets to Beat the Winter Weight and Slim Down Fast

As the cold sets in and we hunker down for the winter you might start to feel your jeans tighten up and your face might begin to have that all too familiar winter puffiness to it once again.

Unfortunately it’s something all too expected and yet unexpected.  We all know that the cold brings heavier comfort foods, and less exercise. But we all promise ourselves to never let it happen again next year!

Here is a list of practical little tweaks and changes you can make this winter to beat the hibernation weight!

Drink More Water:

Ok this one seems like a Duh! But water becomes somewhat of an afterthought when the hot days disappear and your body feels colder rather than warmer. We oftern reach for the coffee or cocoa (or a warm bite of something) rather than our water bottles.

Research has shown that by drinking a 8 oz glass of water will boost your metabolism by 30%, helping shluff off all those extra creamy casseroles or holiday calories. Also; hydration is one of the key elements to all the beauty secrets out there! Keeping your skin hydrated from the inside out will give you a slimmer glow throughout the winter. So next time you go for that can of Diet Soda just think of your poor wintery skin!!

Green Tea:

Ok, I’m not a tea drinker. Brew me a cup of coffee and you are my best friend! But tea is always a chore for me to drink. I know the benefits, and yet that strong robust coffee always brings me to my happy place. However recently I discovered a brand called Numi Toasted Rice Green Tea and it is to die for!!

If you’re a tea drinker Horray!! But if not then my suggestion is to find one you really love and cut out that coffee after lunch and switch to your tea of choice. Green, however; has the most weight loss benefits.

Omega-3 Supplement:

Adding extra omega-3’s to your diet encourages your body to let go of excess. By taking extra omega-3’s, your body acknowledges it’s safe, and not starving. The regular American diet is pretty void of this important vitamin, so by eating foods rich in Omega-3’s such as walnuts, salmon, and chia seeds or by taking a quality supplement your body can relax and pretend it’s on the beach rather than wanting to pack on pounds!!

Fiber:

Think of fiber like a scrub brush to your insides! By consuming more fibrous foods you are essentially scrubbing junk out of your intestines.  Soluble Fiber comes from fruit and veggies, brown rice, beans and bran, lentils, and oats.   The insoluble fibers move through the digestive system to remove waste, toxins and materials your body doesn’t need. Fiber also absorbs water retention in the system and causes you to feel fuller faster and longer. Which of course means eating less and less often!! Win! Win! Win!

The Right Food Choices:

Consuming more foods that help fight fat is an effortless way to help you stay slimmed down and maybe even drop a few pounds. Foods such as avocados, raw (not cooked) olive oil, almonds, blueberries, apples, spinach, cinnamon, and brown free-range eggs are all great. As for the eggs the more you can find out about the way the chickens are raised and fed the better. Lots of eggs can be brown and free range, but free-range is a loose term these days. Knowing where they come from or even knowing the actual farmer will help you get the most benefits from your eggs.

Cut out the White:

Ugg!! I cringe even writing those words. No one really wants to hear it right?! And yet…. Here we are! Yes, the 3 white monsters in our kitchens!! And inevitably in any food ever made!!

  1. Flour
  2. Sugar
  3. Salt

Recently an article came out with famous Former Food Network’s Paula Deen (the one who cooked everything in extra butter and oil). She revealed how she lost 40 lbs. in a few months by cutting out white bread, white rice, white potatoes, and white pasta. She cut back on her sugar intake and learned to replace more fating ingredients with healthier choices.

Here is an article on how she did it

Bonus: Move

We aren’t all gym people. Most of us aren’t at least, especially those of us looking to lose weight. It’s hard to get to the gym, it’s expensive and time consuming especially for busy moms and corporate woman.

So, here’s my tip for exercise. Get on your Pintrest board. We all have one! If you haven’t created a workout board start one! There are so many fantastic workouts on Pintrest that take as little as 15 minutes and will show drastic results in a little amount of time. Such as the plank or squat challenge! Each day choose a different workout from the list that you have pinned on your board. Just go down the line, you won’t get bored, you’ll get to be on Pintrest, you’ll feel great about yourself and you will be helping achieve your goals or maintain them with just a couple minutes each day!
