How to Create a Habit

It doesn’t matter where we are in the path of life, looking ahead we want to be the best we can be. When I think about my future even next week, it looks happier, cleaner, more productive, healthier, and more organized that it is today! To get there we need to do as the pro’s do!

So, let’s look at some of the Habits of Highly Successful People.

  1. Figuring Out What YOU WANT

Highly successful people know what it is that they are working for each day. Have a detailed thought out plan. Visualize and dream. Map out your future either tomorrow, next week, or 5 years from now.

Mindlessly going through life day in and day out always tackling the same issues with no resolve, spinning on a hamster wheel is the life of average people.

Get off the hamster wheel and lay out that road map for your future.Habits of Highly Successful People

  1. Reviewing Your Goals

Hand write you goals regularly. You’re less likely to veer away from your goals if you are continually seeing them and recreating them. Post them on your fridge or nightstand. Keep them always at the center of your mind and close to your heart! For example; If you have a goal for saving money keep the specifics of this goal written down, you will be less like to impulse buy at the store!

If you have a big goal, write it down in doable steps and track your progress! This will keep you motivated and give yourself some “wins” while reaching your larger goal!

  1. Prioritizing Sleep

This is a huge big one, and most people don’t do it. We live in a fast-paced world where all hours of the day can be swallowed up by something. However, the most productive and successful people put their bodies and minds first and this includes sleep. Allowing you to be your most alert and focused self. Enough sleep isn’t “just getting by” it’s ample amounts. You need to find your personal sweet spot, however many hours you need to feel refreshed and focused.

Waking up and getting everything, you want done in a day is great, but not if you are groggy, exhausted and crabby. You can read How to Get Everything Done in a Day HERE.

how to get everything you want done in a day

When that 5 am alarm goes off, you want to be ready to seize the day to the best of your ability.

  1. Workout

People who are successful schedule time to move their bodies. This isn’t just for staying fit and attractive, it goes deeper. It clears your mind, gets you away from technology, gets your blood pumping and helps you get creative. You HAVE TO SCHEDULE this by Prioritizing Your Schedule. You can learn how to do that by reading How To Prioritizing Your Schedule. When it comes to working out, it is more of a habit than anything else. Unless you are one of those rare people who enjoys working out! It all starts with a habit. Habits are wonderful and magical things that can ruin or transform your life. Learn How to Create a Habit HERE, and you will find harder tasks much easier to tackle.

  1. Reading

This one is another Biggy. Most people don’t LOVE to read. It boars people, and they find that they could be getting other more “fun” things done with their time. However, reading is a proven method to keep the mind sharp. What you read you become. Reading especially before bed sinks into your subconscious mind. According to the Business Insider “…those who read consistently exhibit significantly greater memory and mental abilities at all stages in life. They’re also better public speakers, thinkers and, according to some studies, better people in general.” You can read the rest of the article HERE.

  1. Scheduling Email

Successful DO NOT live a reactive lifestyle. They schedule people in. People don’t just “happen” to the most highly successful people. They don’t set a precedence for being the fastest responders, and they are very strategic with their response. Never allowing others to weasel or even dictate their time and schedules.

  1. Dependability

This one is huge in life. More people flake out on a commitment than those who follow through. When you can say yes to an opportunity you have the opportunity to prove your character. Learning to say “NO” to the things you don’t want to do, or the things that you don’t feel is a good fit for you is a mature and adult thing to do. Saying yes and then bailing causes you to be undependable and flaky. Highly successful people are always dependable and have a reputation for knowing what they want and don’t want. They don’t allow themselves to take on tasks or schedule events that won’t benefit them. When they do say yes they mean it and follow through.

  1. Focustime management focus

It’s time to get disciplined with your focus. It all starts with scheduling. Schedule your time, and then be honest and honor yourself with actually doing it. I recently turned all off notifications on my phone. YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram you name it, it’s been silenced. I get at least 50% to 75% more done because of this. Allow yourself the freedom to focus on the task at hand.

  1. Hand-Pick Your Circle of Friends

The 5 people you spend the most time with are the people who shape and influence your life. These people need to be carefully picked.

Who in your life is not helping you reach your highest potential?

Who in your life is weighing you down even in the slightest?

The most highly successful people do the hardest things, cutting people out of your life, or lessening time with them can be one of the hardest things you can do. Which do you want to be, popular among people who aren’t good for you, or one of the most successful people you know?

  1. Prioritize “Me” Time

Highly successful people know when they have been spread too thin. They know that they require time to do WHATEVER it is that they love. This is the time for binge watching Netflix, reading a novel, going out for drinks with friends. Life isn’t always about working, and it certainly isn’t about doing for other people so much that you forget who you are. Prioritizing that time to take a bubble bath or a long shower are habits that highly successful people do every day. What does “Me Time” look like to you? 9 QUICK AND EASY WAYS TO RELIEVE STRESS

Stress creeps in on the best of us. I truly hate the days I feel stressed. I usually wake up feeling different. Moody. And for me at least, there doesn’t seems to be an easy way to beat daily stress!
Stressful days seem to kind of spiral out of control, until we find ourselves on the couch with a warm washcloth over our eyes and popping a painkiller or two.

• For me I usually get annoyed at the information out there for de-stressing. I don’t have the time or willpower to exercise for 30 minutes a day.

• I either don’t have the ingredients or truly don’t want to eat all the bland and boring health food they suggest.

• And it is NEVER quiet long enough here for me to meditate! (if it is where you are, this is a great practice!)

I decided to create a list of things I truly enjoy that make me happy, and feel BETTER! Things I can apply right now, things that make me take a deep breath and remember everything is okay!

These are my quick and easy ways to relieve stress in my life!

I hope these help you too!

DRINKS THAT RELIEVE STRESS

Tea: Tea is very beneficial and healing. It helps to reduce stress and anxiety and a bonus is that is promotes weight loss and appetite control!!

relieve stress

Lavender Lemonade: I know this goes under the category of “not having the ingredients in the cupboard” but bear with me. I too did not have the ingredients necessary for this recipe when I first found it. However, I made it a point to get them, and KEEP them on hand! This beautiful, elegant, lovely, treat is not only a calming experience for the eyes, but the taste buds as well. The lavender is proven to de-stress and relax the most tense muscles in your body. This is one to keep cool in the fridge!

FOODS THAT RELIEVE STRESS

Berries: Especially blueberries are rich in antioxidants and chalk full of vitamin C, which aids in the repairing of damaged cells due to stress. Get your hands on some fresh or even dried berries and treat yourself to a little break.

Blueberries help relieve stress
Cashews: Being a salty and crunchy snack they also help with cravings. However, cashews are high in zinc. Studies have been linked to low levels of zinc causing anxiety and depression. Keeping these little morsels on hand is a good idea.

relieve stress
Dark Chocolate: A bar of dark chocolate is really what does it for me! Mind you it has to be quality dark chocolate, full of all the antioxidants and blood pressure lowering qualities! relieve stress

My personal little tip: create your own little trail mix with these 3 ingredients for a quick grab n’ go stress reducing snack.

HABITS THAT RELIEVE STRESS

Evaluate: We will in a world of habits. We can create and change them, or be enslaved to them. It is always good to evaluate what habits are serving you and which are causing you more stress.

the power of prioritizing your scheduleto relieve stress

Time Blocking: By placing time around the things we need to get done, we make sure to not allow the world to pull us in all different directions. We also create a cushion around our time tables that allow for unfortunate events, like traffic or the like. This can also be related to finances, having an emergency fund helps elevated the possible catastrophic events that will come up.

The Art of Saying “NO”: This is generally the foundation to our stresses. Most people have a hard time with telling people NO. Either because they don’t know how to do it nicely so they just don’t, or they are afraid to let someone down. I used to be this person. I was always afraid to disappoint someone, or that they wouldn’t think highly of me if I said I couldn’t do something for them. So I would stress myself and my family out so badly. I have come to learn that most people don’t really bat an eye when you tell them you can’t do something. The less information you give the better. A simple, “that actually won’t work for me, can I get back to you with some dates and times it will work better?” works absolute wonders! Learning how to say no gracefully and taking care of yourself and the things that you need done will elevate stress levels drastically.

Deep Breath Exercise: Like I mentioned before I don’t like to work out for 30 minutes at a time, and it is NEVER quite here long enough to get through even a short 15-minute meditation with my 5 small fries! 😊 But that doesn’t mean that both of those things aren’t EXTREMELY beneficial to relieving stress. So I made my own version of both! Combined! I call it my MOMENT!

relieve stress
I take 5 deeps breaths in and out and stretch. I get away from whatever it is I’m doing and close my eyes and calm my mind and body by breathing deeply. Then I stand up and stretch. Bend down and touch my toes and bend from side to side. Getting the blood rushing into all my muscles and especially my brain. This clears my mind and helps me remember that everything is truly okay!

This is the  list of things I do (sometimes multiple times a day) that truly help me relieve stress and find my happiness again! Those days are real. And they are hard.

7 Things They Never Taught You in School About Money

We spend 12 to 16 years in school on average. I don’t know about you, but I never once learned about how to get rich, retire comfortable, or even budget my personal finances. So today we are going to go over the 7 things they never taught you in school about money!

Ever since the day I got married I have been on a quest to see how I can save the most money possible. Saving money and budgeting is a game and a job all rolled into one.

It’s a game because you must keep coming up with strategies for doing it differently or correctly over and over. You are always on the hunt for the cheapest option or best deal. You must keep tweaking the budget, finding alternatives and adjusting your habits. It all boils down to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!

It’s a job because it’s an everyday conscience effort to make sure your money isn’t flowing out of your hands as fast as it is coming in or faster! It’s such a fulltime job my husband nicknamed me the “Stay-at-Home Economist”!

Recent research suggests that more than 25 million middle-class Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.

Becoming free from the chains of living paycheck to paycheck takes diligence and discipline.

Here are some things that I have found extraordinarily helpful to help me turn the tables and get ahead of that paycheck!

7 THings They Never Taught You in School About Money

1: Identify and Cut the Waste in Your Budget

This one is huge. Waste in our everyday lives costs huge amounts of money.

I am always on the lookout for wastefulness. Having children makes it even harder to staying on top of this! Plates of food, running faucets of water while brushing teeth, 3 loads of dishes a day!!

Food alone can break the bank account!

Did you know on average a family throws away $2,200 of food a year?! That’s over 300lbs of food! Which is broken down to 20 lbs. of food per person in the U.S. every month!

I don’t know about you, but I don’t like grocery shopping enough to warrant throwing away 20 lbs. of food per person in my family each month!!

Just by being more aware of waste will greatly help you reduce it and save money.

Check out How to Cut Your Grocery Bill in Half!!!!

2: Put Your Wasted Money to Work For You

By saving what you would normally be spending on wasteful behaviors you can put it aside into your savings, or retirement, or have that money start to work for you. Then in time these accounts will be able to become investment accounts and soon your money will snowball into making money for you! How exciting right?!

3: Consider Cash Flow

This one is a game changer. Get organized when it comes to your cash flow.

Knowing what bills are coming out and when you are getting paid so there is an even flow throughout the whole month, not only brings a peace of mind, but saves money. This way you are not “rich” one weekend and “poor” the next!

Over draft fees and bounced check fees are a ridiculous waste of money that nobody can afford!

This can all be avoided by creating a budget. If you are looking for a quick and easy (non-techy) way of starting a budget you can read my budgeting post by CLICKING HERE.  The budget will help you know what is coming out, what is going in, and when to tighten all the reigns. However; this action is not enough on it’s own. What took us a while in the early years is ACTUALLY STICKING TO THE BUDGET! Sure, it’s great to see the spending plan on paper, but it’s a whole other ballgame to live by what is on that paper!

4: Add Income

This one is personal and can only be determined by you and your family life. I can’t tell you how many times my husband and I have battled the ever-unresolved discussion of whether one of us should get another job.

The timing must be right for you and your life.

However, if this is a possibility for you, adding a second part-time income would change your finances drastically. This money should be used completely for getting ahead and reaching your goals! It is easy to just let it go towards the “lifestyle” and forget that there is any extra money coming in at all.

Seriously, how many of us have been excited about a raise only to look back a month later wondering how the heck we made ends meet without it? This is the mistake of letting the “lifestyle” rise to the income level rather than setting a modest lifestyle to reach long-term goals with extra money. It takes consistency and self-discipline, as well as a clear vision and focus on what we really want!

If your life doesn’t allow for you to get another job, you can check out my post: 9 Side-Hustles You Can Do From The Comfort Of Your Bed7 Things They Never Taught You in School About Money

5: Get a Month Ahead

This one can be a bit painful the first month. You will have to make the “rice and bean” kinds of sacrifices to be able to do it. But after you have that extra month in the bank, in a separate account, you create what Dave Ramsey calls a “buffer between you and Murphy.” Getting a month ahead was what was key to my husbands and my own peace of mind and feeling like we had a bit of control.

6: Automate Your Savings

Learning your options for automating your saving is a fantastic hack for getting a savings account good and healthy. Sometimes things like putting money to savings needs to be automatic in order for us to do them. One of the biggest obstacles for people getting their adult life together is that they think it is just too hard, or that they don’t have the right tools to do it.

When it comes to money, the truth is that 90% of the battle is just getting the key automated systems into place. Once you set them up most money actions don’t need to be thought about that much, especially if you choose the right ones. StashInvest is a fantastic way to save money without really thinking about it. It’s an organizational app that allows you to save, budget, and organize your finances all in one crisp and clean app. I highly recommend this app as it has everything all in one, and you can start with as little as $5.

7: Dream With Your Goals

This one is just as important as the rest. It may seem superficial and not necessary to mention, but without a dream there is no vison. By keeping your eye on the ball, you most definitely will succeed.

Life has it’s ups and downs, it’s ebb and flow. There will be months it seems smooth, dare I say easy. And months you think nothing else could possibly go wrong. Getting out of the paycheck to paycheck life and putting some cushion between you and what life throws at you bring you peace. Setup smaller achievable goals with your money that lead to those big dreams that you have in you heart!

These 7 things they never taught you in school about money can be a life saver when applied to your finances. I’d love to hear if you were taught any of these things in school? I’d love to know if any of these steps helped you to move forward in your finances. Please drop me an email or leave a comment and let me know of any steps you’ve learned in your adult life that you didn’t learn in school that have helped you transform your money situation!

SUCCESS MEANS GOING FROM FAILURE TO FAILURE WITHOUT LOSS OF ENTHUSIASM

Success Means Going From Failure to Failure Without Loss of Enthusiasm

Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.” Winston Churchill

Success means going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm

If success means going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm, then we have to find success in our failures!

It’s hard to fail, however if we learn in our failure is it really failing? Yes I know it’s hard to do something over and over and get up and try again! My husband is consistently doing this and trying to better himself in many ways! He fails but always manages to shake it off and get back up and start again! Sometimes I don’t know how he does it, but he does and that is why he succeeds! That is the only way any successful person succeeds is that they never let their failures get the best of them. They keep fighting!

The only way to climb a mountain is one step at a time. You might slip or fall but you have to take that next step over and over and keep going! It is a struggle and will challenge you to your core! That will make reaching the top so much more worth it! When you’ve been beaten down and want to give up; just take one more step!

It is only when we stop getting back up that we truly fail!

I encourage you today to embrace the failure and reflect on it! It is healthy if you make it healthy! It is strengthening and rewarding if you are willing to see it as that and learn from it!

Don’t give up on your goals or your dreams! Embrace the journey and don’t ever give up! It is time to rise and look at the mountain in front of you and just say, “Here I go; One more step…”

“Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.” Winston Churchill

Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm

Stop waiting for life to happen

STOP WAITING FOR LIFE TO HAPPEN

I think it is safe to say that every person in modern society is saving something in their lives for a “special time.” People tend to put many things away for later.

Do you have a hutch full of china waiting for a special Christmas Dinner? Or a box of beautiful clothes that don’t fit anymore. Do you save the expensive candles for a romantic evening that never seems to happen? Are you waiting for life to happen?

These are the things that wind up in storage units and basements, all too often forgotten. Never to be enjoyed or lived.

My mother is a collector of beautiful dishware and home décor items. I watched as she decorated our home in lovely elegant items for my sisters and I. No matter our age she made our home elegant and lovely. As I grew up I started my own hope chest of beautiful things. As I saved, purchased and stored away my own future home I vowed to myself to carry on the tradition of making my life beautiful every day. To use my china for my family on Sunday’s. To burn my expensive candles on a random Wednesday winter evening. To drink water out of crystal goblets and to dress in my nice clothes even when at home with the kids.

There’s a story of a poor girl who lived in poverty with her family. She remembered how her grandmother always made it a point to make their home beautiful despite living in a terrible neighborhood. She hung gingham curtains in her kitchen window and would save to buy fresh paint. She always made sure her clothes were clean and well mended, and she always acted like a lady. The girl learned from her grandmother to live today to it’s fullest. To make the most of everything you have. To be grateful for your life by making it beautiful. She grew up to become a multi-millionaire and an influential part of society.

We are the grandmothers, mothers, friends, aunts, daughters, and mentors of woman all over the world who carry the responsibility of living and passing on this knowledge, and way of living.

WAITING FOR LIFE TO HAPPEN

We have a duty to our society and gender to live the most beautiful lives we possibly can. A life of purpose, of gratitude and elegance.

How can you live your life more beautifully today?

You can start by getting dressed in your nicest clothes. By doing your makeup and putting on jewelry.

You can start to burn candles at the breakfast table and drink coffee out of a cup and saucer.

You can take the china out of the box and serve dinner on it for your husband and kids this weekend.

You can choose to stop waiting for that “special day” to come and make today special!

On the radio I heard a man telling of his grandmother who had recently passed away. As the family went through her belonging and cleaned out her little old house they discovered boxes and boxes of exquisite old china that had never been used or unboxed. He said his mother recognized it as her mother’s wedding china. She said that the grandmother had found the china so beautiful and precious that she had always been saving it for a VERY special dinner. His voice expressed his sadness when he said, “and that time never came.”

Why do we wait? Why is today not very special? Who defines “special”? What may be special to me may not even be special to you. YOU define your special.

Stop WAITING for life to happen and realize that every day is a gift worth celebrating! Start making today a special time for you. Make moments into memories and stop letting them blend together.

Life only has to be ordinary if we choose for it to be. You can make any day extraordinary. What will you unbox today that you have been saving for a special time that may never come? What will you change to make today extraordinary?

7 TRICKS YOU NEED TO BE A TIME NINJA

7 TRICKS YOU NEED TO BE A TIME NINJA

Time is our most precious asset. You can’t get more of it and everyone on the planet has the same amount of it!

I have a revelation for you! What you decide to do with your time is completely up to you! It may not seem like that but trust me it is true.

I have great news!

You have ALL the time that you need if you want to accomplish more!

Today I am going to share my favorite time management tips that allowed me to get a lot more done in shorter amounts of time, or at least let me get more focused in the short time periods I have to do so.

People are not magical. We are not born productive. No one comes into this world planned, scheduled, and successful in all they do. No this is learned! It’s a culture. A way of living. It’s a choice!

The biggest changes cannot happen without the first critical step:

1: Mindset

time management Mindset

Our behaviors follow our beliefs. This is gospel. so, I think it deserves a repeat.

Our Behaviors Follow our Beliefs.

If I believe something, then my actions will follow suit.

Look at people who have succeeded at life, make millions of dollars, write best sellers, courses, and business. It all seems to pop out of thin air to us, and we wonder how these people were “born” with so much talent, and “ability” to have such amazing lives. They all have the same thing in common. They ALL HAVE THE SAME MINDSET.

Successful people know that if they make the difficult choices now they will reap the benefits of it in their future. The difficult decisions like waking up early to get a head start on a big project, going to bed late to launch a new product. Making sure they don’t pick up their phones and get lost in the rabbit hole of social media. These decisions are the ones that pay off.

You have to have the mindset of success, the belief that your time is a priority and then take actionable steps to putting that time into practice

Time is our most valuable asset.

We can make a fortune and lose it all, yet we can make it all back again. We can lose our health and get it all back again. Our energy can diminish, but we can replenish it, we can even lose the loves our lives, yet find new love. However, time NEVER COMES BACK.

 2: YOUR CALENDAR

Some of the most famous words in the workplace are: “Gotta Minute?”

1,440

That is the number of minutes that we have. Each one of us have the same amount. No more. No less. People, circumstances, children, pets, spouses, chores, traffic, everything is trying to take a minute.

Everything in it’s time and place is important. Even sitting on the couch and relaxing is EXTREMELY important.

I cannot emphases enough to you the power of your calendar. In whatever form you like to use one. It can be on the fridge, on you phone or computer, on the wall it really doesn’t matter. You MUST start using it!

If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.” – Peter Drucker

The calendar is where you are going to plan and track every minute of your time. It is right there in front of you. You can see right there how much you should be using to sleep, how much is being given away to other people, how much is free and not being used.

Track every single thing that you do on your calendar. Just like your calorie app, tracking or journaling everything that you eat helps you see where you can make improvements, where you are going wrong, maybe even that you are not eating enough.

The same goes for your calendar. It gives you the clear and precise data of where your time is going, where it can be freed up, or even where there is free time that you aren’t using properly. Cause let’s be real. Those 4 hours you spend vegging on the couch in the evenings binge watching Netflix and Instagram stocking your friends you have to put that in your calendar and be honest with yourself that it is something that you did for 2 to 3 to 4 hours! 😊

The benefit of doing this is that then tomorrow you can think, what can I do today in that 4-hour time slot that would benefit me and my life more than Netflix! Is it finishing the laundry? Scrubbing the floor? Writing a blog post or creating YouTube videos? Taking the kids for a walk? Having a meaningful conversation with your spouse? You know what it is!

  1. Focus

time management focus

So many things pull and distract us all day long. There are always a thousand things we can do at any given minute. We have more coming at us in one day than ever before in recorded history. The world has gotten smaller and we can easily access any remote corner of it at any given time. You can still get everything done in a day despite all your gadgets!

With the world shrinking and personal responsibilities rising, it is hard to know what to do first.

Here is where Focus comes into play. To be able to tackle any day’s schedule or list of tasks that seem overwhelming one of your greatest tools will be your focus.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t seem to be able to focus on things very long these days. We are apart of a “microwave” generation. 10 seconds is a life time. So here is my tip to you.

Focus for brief amounts of time. Set a timer for 5, 10, or even 25 minutes depending on your level of concentration, and the size of the task you are trying to tackle.  The Pomodoro Technique says that you are more prone to get things done if you are hyper focused for at least 25 minutes.  Give that thing your undivided attention and pure focus for those minutes you put on the timer. When the timer is up. Step away. Take a break. Do a different task. Go for a walk. Get a glass of water. Whichever you prefer or need.

Don’t bog yourself down. Forcing yourself to bog through when your focus has diminished only allows for you to become board, to procrastinate, or worse avoid a task that needs your attention.

  1. Prioritize

We all have our prioritizes in life.

It is important to take the time to put your largest priorities first! This is KEY!

First use your morning to focus on the most important thing of all…. YOU!

Do whatever makes you happy or fulfilled. Prayer, meditation, tea or coffee, hydration, stretching. Whatever you like, take care of yourself first.

Next; Do the most important things on your list first. The most important are usually the biggest most difficult and scariest things that we must get done. We generally tend to avoid them because of these things. But they are scary because they MATTER!

Sometimes people get hung up on trying to be more efficient. People think that by being efficient they’re being more productive. But this isn’t true!

BEING EFFECTIVE IS MORE PRODUCTIVE THAN BEING EFFICIENT

What you do is infinitely more important than how you do it. Go with your own flow. If you work better with music rather than silence, do so. If you work better with short bursts of focus rather than sitting down till your brain is numb, do that! Be effective in your priorities.

  1. Keep Things Organized and Minimalized

7 ways to become a time ninja3

You need a work space that is going to keep you productive not overwhelm you when you look at it. You need a space that you can get creative and really get to work when the time is right. That could be the kitchen, a desk space, an art studio, you name it, it needs to be organized and minimal, so you can really get to work when you decided to. Clear off away the clutter in all areas in your life. Don’t waste the precious time you DO have trying to find things that should have a home. Organize your work station to be the most efficient and productive possible.

  1. Reverse Engineer Your Time Line

By reversing your time line, you can see when and where the biggest things need to get done.

For instance:

  • Big Presentation June
  • Write notes
  • Research more on bullet points
  • Outline Topic Bullet Points

Than you can see at what points you need to work on things. By doing this I know that instead of writing on a to-do list Work on Presentation, which is overwhelming. Instead I know that first things first I need to write an outline my topics and create bullet points.

  1. Create a Ritual

Creating a ritual around your most productive times can really help you get into a flow state. Consider the environment or mood that you are creating when sitting down to really work on something.

For me I love to brew myself a cup of dark velvety coffee, clear off my work space, turn on some instrumental music that helps my brain to really be able to focus. I love having a plant near me, or something green. It makes me feel like sunshine is near me even on the greyest day.

I love having my certain pens and notebook near me for any ideas that pop up during my working time. Or being able to glance at my list of things that I prioritized during this work session of time I’ve allotted.

To sum up how to become a time ninja and accomplish everything you ever wanted to with your time:

  1. Manage Your Mindset

  2. Keep Your Calendar

  3. Fine Tune Your Focus

  4. Prepare and Prioritize

  5. Keep Things Organized

  6. Reverse Engineer Your Time

  7. Create A Ritual

Sometimes we learn new things but fail to put them into practice. The key to success is applying your knowledge to your daily life. Your busy schedule is no joke. It’s real. And it’s important. So is everything that you can’t get done in a day from your schedule right now. By taking the time to be a bit more disciplined in your everyday habits you will manage to accomplish things you never thought you had the time for!

I wish you all the success and happiness in your daily life!

HOW TO CREATE A HABIT

We are, what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. -Will Durant

The latest surveys show that 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail by the second week of February.

Does that mean that you shouldn’t make a new year’s resolution because you only have an average 20% success rate? NO! So how then can you keep it? What chance do you have at succeeding at a goal in your life? The answer is: through your actions.

We will see big change through creating a habit of smaller consistencies that we do on a daily basis! Climbing a mountain takes every step to get to that final goal of reaching the top, but it still takes every single, step. It takes discipline and determination in our daily struggles to change our lives!

Fika

FIKA: WHAT IT IS AND WHY YOU NEED IT

It is no surprise if you have been around here at all that I have a thing for coffee!!  I have a love affair with my coffee. It’s my me time, it’s my personal moment. When all the world is pulling and pushing and demanding every second of every day from me it is the 10 minutes I get to breathe deeply, center my mind and just be. It is my Fika!

There is nothing like the smell of a fresh brew. The first couple sips of the hot velvety liquid hitting your lips and tongue. There is nothing like that personal silent moment of adoration as the steam tickles your nose and you breath ever so deeply the smells and sock in the moment of taking the time for yourself, and of course, your coffee!

See how Fika is different from Hygge!

I recently learned of something that goes hand in hand with another concept I am in love with, Hygge. Yet it is all about, yep you guess it, COFFEE!! It’s called Fika and it is an intentional, and romanticized coffee break.

Fika basically means a coffee break. It usually takes place in the mid-morning around 10 or maybe even around 3 p.m. If you are really lucky you might get to have a “akvallsfika” (a night time coffee break) in the evening too!!

What Fika is All About

Fika Coffee Hygge

It’s more than just a coffee break like the American’s do. It’s more of a Hygge Coffee Break. (What’s Hygge?) It is taking the time to stop what you are doing, get cozy, indulge in the little luxuries of life such a piece of cake, or cookies, heavy whipping cream and sugar in your coffee, but most of all surrounding yourself with fabulous company.

Drinking coffee is not enough with Fika, it is a Swedish Tea Time. You must have something savory or sweet to munch on. Small sandwiches, or cake. Even cinnamon rolls. As long as you are eating something while drinking and talking with people you enjoy you have accomplished Fika.

In the work place Fika is a great way to get to know your coworkers, mingle and chat. At home it is a fantastic way to reconnect with your spouse after a long day of being apart, and in the evening, it is a perfect way to recharge for the evening bedtime routine ahead, whatever that may mean for you.

To the Swedish to Fika is to go out for coffee, to mingle, to get into society. It is an ageless tradition. Children, middle aged and elderly enjoy this break together each day. It is a Swedish lifestyle. If you can’t make it to a coffee shop multiple times a day, don’t worry. You can Fika in your own way as long as you change up your environment, change up your company, and of course have a hot cup of coffee and a special treat!

Fika is a way of being mindful, it’s a way of being intentional. It’s a way of being nice to yourself and taking care of yourself. Life is busy. It can pull us in a thousand different directions each day. You would greatly benefit by adding Fika to your life. Who will it hurt if you decided to go in the coffee shop and sit at a table, putting your phone away, not bringing in your laptop, and just people watching for 15 minutes. Who will it disturb for you to take the time for yourself, just a couple minute each day to stop and enjoy. Today will be over in hours. Never to be lived again. Will you decided to add this small intentional break to your life?

TOP MONEY SECRETS OF REAL MILLIONAIRES

MONEY SECRETS OF REAL MILLIONAIRES

When we think about “success” we think money. When we think money, we think of having so much of it that it no longer brings concern. Some of us may even think in numbers like millions or billions.

If you have any ambition to be successful at all, why not learn from the best?

I’ve studied millionaires for the past 16 years and becoming a millionaire has been a life-long dream of mine since I can remember! Although at first, of course; I didn’t have much of a plan. It was just wishful thinking; a dream rather than a goal.

Through the years however I have taken the wonderful advice of the ones I have studied and applied it to my daily life. After hard work and detailed application, things began to fall into place in ways that have taken my life and turned it around 180 degrees.

By applying the things, we learn; our lives can start to look like the ones we want to emulate. It’s so easy to read quotes, read books, and watch movies about other people’s success stories fiction or non. It’s so simple to then dismiss their success as a “fluke”, or just cracking it up to it being what they were “destined” for, but that’s not OUR lives. It safe to stay put. To not ever go out of our comfort zone. Safety isn’t success it’s average.

Here are 18 Things that typical millionaires have in common regarding good personal and money habits:

  1. Get Up Early

coffee-2439897_1920

You don’t have to be up before the sun. But being up before people start pestering allows for time to focus and get the most done. It also allows for Personal time. Spiritual time. Mental time. These 3 things are things the world and other people do not allow for you, so you must chisel time out for yourself. Being up before the world starts pulling you each and every way allows for that time.

  1. Get Self-Employed

This one seems like a no brainer, it also seems to be said a lot these days with youtubers and bloggers up the wazoo. It was background to me for a long time. Something I dismissed for some unknown emotional reason. Self-doubt perhaps. But this one is truly an important factor. Either by a side-hustle or full on business getting self employed allows you the freedom to bring in any amount you set for yourself. Start with a budget!

  1. Take Risks

Taking risks is so far out of most people’s comfort zones that they literally never will do it. Not even once in their lives. Millionaires however have all taken some risk. Either on themselves or in an investment. Learn what risks are practical, safer, and will yield a return and then start.

  1.  Invest Consistently

bull-3112617_1920

Learn the numbers and get comfortable with it. Take a course, ask an advisor, do whatever it takes for you to understand what you are doing with your hard-earned money but then do it. Teach yourself how to make your money work FOR you.

Invest often. Don’t get scared and quit. Don’t sit on one investment. Invest often.

Invest early. It’s the hardest and most important phase for getting a foundation under your belt.

  1. Gratitude and Satisfaction

Millionaires are people who have had massive amounts of gratitude and satisfaction throughout the entire process. They learned early on to enjoy the journey. By being grateful in our present states and having satisfaction with the things we have and the achievements we have conquered we stop looking outside of ourselves for happiness. The happiest people have the most to offer the world.

  1. Cut Waste

Becoming a millionaire isn’t always about MAKING more money. Part of it is taking care of what you have and not wasting it. See: the best ways to start saving! That goes for time and resources as much as belongings. Cut the waste out of your life as much as you can and keep what you have and your life will see great returns. See the best ways to cut the waste out of your grocery budget!

  1. Be the Best NOW

waitress-2376728_1920

People who are successful are typically the best in their field or expertise. Be the best NOW!!! Don’t wait until the money starts coming in. Give the best of yourself. Show up. Excel at whatever you are doing but excel NOW. Be the best waitress. The BEST cashier. Smile. Bring Joy and value. Make people laugh. Be attractive and you will attract. If you hate your job, change it. If you can’t change it create a business, you will love. Just remember you can’t start a business tonight and quite your job tomorrow, it will take time. But the time will pass if you start one or not. So, you might as well start creating your future today. While you are at it though, be the best version of you.

  1. Figure Out Your “Why” First

If you don’t have a reason you don’t have much of a pull. How will you be willing to do what it takes if you don’t have a reason behind you. It doesn’t have to be profound or elaborate. Figure out what your reasons for stepping out of your comfort zone and into the unknown are. This will keep you going in the hard times. This will be the drive to get you to the top.

  1. Believe in Yourself

More times than not we sit on the sidelines watching. We are all afraid. Don’t be fooled. All the millionaires I’ve ever spoken with have had a point in their lives where they were afraid.

Most millionaires didn’t have parents who handed them a bank account after school. They came from where you sit today or worse. Also most of them were so scared and they didn’t know what to do, but they kept putting one foot in front of the other. You can’t run the race sitting on the bleachers. You have to get off the sidelines and start. Believe that you have something to offer that no one else does. The world is waiting for you!

  1. Start Small

Little sacrifices add up. Start small and slow. You don’t have to go all in. Just do 1 small thing each day that moves you forward. You want to build momentum. These millionaires didn’t get here in a day. They followed a process. They started small and slow and eventually they won the race.

  1. Plan B

It’s important to have a plan B. Otherwise we let road blocks get in our way. We set ourselves up for failure. Create a plan B to keep moving forward. There will always be road blocks and doors that slam shut. Don’t let it be discouraging.

  1. Don’t Purchase These 2 Things

house-3069940_1920

There are 2 things in life that we are programed to need, want, and continually buy. New Car’s and New Houses. Resist the urge as much as you can. As the money starts to come in remember that the Mazda you drove to get to class will still get you around. The house can be fixed and upgraded.

  1. Make Your “Millions” Come to Life

What does being a millionaire mean to you? It means something different to each person. There are no two people alike. A millionaires lifestyle to you will be a completely different picture to me. Paint your picture. Dream. Visualize. Sometimes when we think “millionaire” we think in money, but money has no feeling. Think about what a day in your life would look like if you made a 7-figure income. This is your million come to life!

14. Planning, Commitment and Perseverance

action-2277292_1920

Plan your money so you have plenty at the end of the month. By making more or cutting expenses, whichever you prefer. Create and commit to a plan, then persevere. The hardest part is perseverance through the hard times.

  1. Get Rid of Bad Debt

Learn the difference between good and bad debt. Avoid consumer debt at all costs, but don’t neglect the benefits of good debt. Good debt is a debt that is an investment that will grow in value and generate long-term income.  Purchasing a home would be an example of “good debt.” It is an asset that typically grows in value and is sold for a profit.

  1. Avoid Peer Pressure and “The Jones’s”

Its super easy to get sucked into the trends and what other people are doing or having. Social media makes it even easier to be constantly up to date with what everyone is buying.  This is where remembering your “million come to life” comes in very handy. Always having that scene playing out in your head of what your day will looks like after you achieve your goals is the perfect tool to keep you on track and let the Jones’s be.

  1. Learn How to Work 10% Harder Than the Average Person

  • The average person comes home and watched Netflix.
  • They get up in just enough time to maybe shower before work and head out the door.
  • The average person lives paycheck to paycheck.

Learn to work only 10% harder than that and you are bound to succeed. See the Habits of Successful People vs Unsuccessful People.

  1. Never Stop Learning

book-3089857_1920

Never stop reading, listening to podcasts, studying the people you want to emulate. Don’t give up on your dreams and always be working on reaching them. The minute you stop learning, is the minute you give it all up. If you don’t understand something you must research it until you do. And if you fear something; do it until you are comfortable. Never stay comfortable, because comfort is average!

Remember becoming a millionaire is NOT hard to do, but so it NOT becoming one. It’s a choice in the little things.

  • Working a bit harder.
  • Setting aside instant gratification
  • Being grateful for what you have and are experiencing
  • Stepping out of your comfort zone
  • Investing in yourself

Through my 16 years of study these 18 things ring loud and clear as common denominators. If you can implement them into your life now slowly but surely you will start to see a snowball effect of results.

Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.”
― Earl Nightingale

Where will you be in the next 10 years? Will you risk your comfort, learn to work 10% harder, and ignore the Jones’s to be able to give your advice for making 7-figures?
