HOW WE SAVED HUNDREDS BY CHANGING THIS ONE COFFEE HABIT

I’m not one to go out and get a Starbucks Latte every morning (although I have been known to treat myself) however I’m a huge Kurig pod coffee lover! So how we saved hundreds by changing this one coffee habit is NOT about how we just didn’t go out for coffee because we were already smart enough to avoid that expense!

I used to drink a half-pot to a pot of coffee a day depending on the stress level or business of that day. When the Kurig machine hit store shelves I switched to that and never looked back! That being said, for someone who drinks as much coffee as I do, This was quite an expensive habit! And I wasn’t even “going out” for coffee!

SAVED HUNDREDS BY CHANGING THIS ONE COFFEE HABIT

Some time ago I was going over our budget with my husband and as always we were looking at how we could change some of our habits and save some money. Our food budget is usually what we land on for flexibility and where we can change our meal planning or shopping habits. Be sure to check out How We Cut Our Grocery Bill IN HALF!!!

I realized I was buying around 2- 12 pod boxes of kurig coffee pods a week (it’s really not that much when you have a big coffee cup). So doing the calculations:

1 coffee pod box cost around $7.50 (for a non-decadent brand)

x 2 per week = $15.00 per week

4 weeks = 1 month so $15.00 x 4 = $60 per month of coffee! Yikes!!!

But hey if you are buying a Latte at the coffee shop every day you actually spend so much more than that!

I decided this coffee habit had to change! No I did not stop drinking coffee! I could never do that! I started looking at how to get a cheaper cup of coffee without taking away the bold flavor and convenience that the Kurig cups have to offer.  I found some options that were not great and was also not willing to settle for the super cheap Kurig cups that taste like coffee flavored water either.

If there was a word for foodie in the coffee world, that would be me!

I came across these AMAZING cup filters that make for a cheap cup of coffee but do not diminish any flavors or taste!

2 Solofill K3 Chrome CUP Chrome Refillable Filter Cup for Keurig-r (RED, 2)

These are by far the best ones that I have ever used (and I tried several early on). These don’t leave any grounds in the coffee and are super easy to fill and clean. Now I can buy coffee grounds that are so much cheaper and last longer than the pod boxes that seemed to rapidly leave my home!To do the quick math:1 bag of grounds per week = $4.50

$4.50 per week x4 = $18.00 per month (We don’t even use a full bag in a week)

$60.00 – 18.00 = $42.00 per month!

That means each month I am saving $42!!! And you can save even more if you currently get your morning coffee out of the house!

So let’s take the savings of 42 dollars per month and see what I have saved each year by making the switch:

$42 x 12 months = $504.00!!!

That’s over 500 dollars saved per year in our food budget by changing this one coffee buying habit! My husband and I have both been extremely pleased with how we saved hundreds by changing this one coffee habit that we have recommended this to all of our family members! The financial results are really amazing and this is just ONE way to save some big money! We are always looking for more great tips and tricks to save some extra money and better support our family!

How to Lose Weight Without Dieting (Especially If You Weigh Over 200 lbs)

This post contains affiliate links. See Affiliate Disclaimer

Have you tried every diet under the sun? If you weigh over 200 pounds and you feel like you are at your wits end with trying to lose weight, and having it backfire on you over and over again, then this article is for you.

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • Even though you set goals you never see any progress?
  • You watch desperately as the scale creeps up farther and father and you feel helpless.
  • Your greatest wish is to break free from the chains of discomforting fat, achieve your greatest dream, fit into clothes you love, and be able to move with ease and grace.

All of this is possible for you. It doesn’t feel that way, but I promise it is.

Have you heard? The game of weight loss has changed! Did anyone tell you?

1st things 1st. I want you to take everything you think you know about weight loss and throw it out the window!!!

Okay, now let’s start with that fresh slate.

I’m going to take you through a new and wonderful blueprint that you can follow and see great results. This blueprint has been proven, scientifically and by many people who have had hundreds of pounds fall off.

Gone are the days of starving and endless workouts at a humid sticky gym. Gone are the days of deprivation from everything you love and never seeing more than 5 pounds drop off the scale.

Are you ready? It is all EMOTIONAL

Your body wants to be what it is. It doesn’t care what the latest trend is. Your body keeps you safe no matter what that happens to be for you.

Here is a list of actionable steps to encourage your body to want to be thin.

  1. Stop Cardio!

That feels as good to type as it does to read! Exercise isn’t for weight loss it’s for toning and muscle building. With over 50 lbs or more to lose all the cardio in the world won’t help you lose weight. All its going to do is stress your joints and discourage your journey.

Recent studies done by Current Biology have shown that exercise plays absolutely no major role in weight loss what-so-ever.

This is not to say that exercise isn’t healthy or beneficial. On the contrary everyone should move their bodies and get some form of exercise each and every day. However, working out for endless hours putting strain on your joints and bones is doing nothing in the way of weight loss. So put it off for now.

  1. Leptin Resistance

Hormones play an enormous factor in weight loss and weight gain for that matter.

Leptin is a hormone that regulates hunger and energy. It sends 2 messages to the brain.

  1. I’m hungry we need to eat soon
  2. We have eaten enough and have energy to burn let’s move!

Where has this hormone been hiding you ask? Unfortunately, leptin is silenced when there is insulin resistance in the body.

There is a huge link to leptin resistance and obesity

This is why we focus on diet first, exercise comes after.

By eating lots of lean proteins, adding live foods to every meal, and good probiotics you will cure leptin resistance and heal your body deficiencies.

  1. Insulin Resistance

We know what you’re thinking; of course, here we go with hating on carbs!

But here’s the deal. 90% of all people who weight over 200 lbs are insulin resistant. So, it’s pretty likely you are too.

This makes every carbohydrate you eat work in the opposite effect and instead of giving you energy, it creates glue in your system.

According to Dr. Berg this can lead to a lot of other pretty nasty problems like diabetes and metabolic resistance.

YOU NEED A CARBOHYDRATE DETOX

It’s time to cut carbs.

A good month or 2 without carbohydrates will help your body in repairing itself.

You can start to add them back in slowly as you see progress and your hormones have leveled out. By detoxing the body and resetting it you can greatly improve your health in drastic ways.

  1. Leaky Gut

Another thing you are more than likely experiencing if you weight over 200 lbs is leaky gut syndrome.

This sounds disgusting and scary. But don’t worry.

All it means is that your body isn’t processing and absorbing the nutrients from the food that you need.

                It’s super simple to cure.

All you need is to cut all processed sugars and grains, and add a strong quality probiotic.

That’s it! Super simple!

  1. Walk, Walk, Walk

The power of walking has been pushed to the wayside as other trends have taken flight. But walking has always been the back bone of any thin, fit, and healthy society. It has also been the main form of transportation since the beginning of time.

It is surprisingly powerful for weight loss

There are many benefits to walking such as helping with high cholesterol, mood, creativity, posture. However, if you are over 200 lbs. walking is a light and comforting way to move your blood, and muscles without hurting yourself.

  1. Diets Don’t Work

You are an emotional being. You have past programs, you have a personal blueprint that is unique to you and only you. There is an underlying reason you can’t lose weight and it’s mainly emotional.

Our entire lives are made up of how we feel about things. What we like, don’t like. How we were treated as children, or recently.

Your weight loss journey isn’t scientific, it’s emotional just as you are.

Your body will not let you lose weight if it doesn’t want to be thin.

This is becoming more and more widely accepted as truth among doctors and scientist as thousands of people are seeing success with this concept.

Jon Gabriel is a pioneer in this thought process and has helped countless people lose hundreds of pounds.

After a lifetime of searching for the weight loss key, Jon discovered that diet is not the answer. He proceeded on his own personal search for what was the answer and succeeded at melting 220 lbs without diet or surgery. He just recently celebrated 10 years of successfully keeping it off and continues to teach people the same concept.

You can read more about him here.

The bigger you are the more emotional blockages you have, preventing you from letting go of the weight.

Consider seriously looking into this. You have nothing to lose accept massive amounts of cumbersome weight.

I truly wish you a successful journey on your path to weight loss.

It is difficult to find quality information for people who have more weight to lose than the average 20 pounds. If you have any questions or concerns I would be more than happy to help direct you to finding proper answers.

10 STEPS TO A MORE HYGGE HOME

What is Hygge?

I sometimes wonder why things become a trend. Personally, I stay away from anything trendy. I have this weird thing where if someone talks to me about something I already love, wears a shirt I own, loves a movie I love….. I am no longer interested in it. Even if I really love that person! It’s nothing against them it is just that I don’t like to just follow the trend or do what everyone else is doing. I guess I just have to be different. There is something deep within me that screams to be different, unique, one of a kind! More on that in another post!

But with Hygge even though every blogger and their neighbors are talking about it I’m still in love with the concept.

If you haven’t heard of Hygge it is a Danish term that loosely means “the art of intentional and cozy living.”

Life tends to have treads, ups and downs, ebb and flow. Western society tends to be on an uphill trend of stress, never-ending schedules, dead-lines and responsibilities. Throw in personal goals, physical expectations, health restrictions, social obligations, it only makes sense that Hygge would resonate so strongly with the Western World.

So how can we, in a society of keeping ourselves blindingly busy, make room for Hygge?

Hygge doesn’t just happen, it is created.

Here is a quick list of things that would help your home be more Hygge:

  1. Candles

  2. Warm cozy slippers

  3. Over-sized thick blankets

  4. Shawls or sweaters

  5. Hot cups of coffee, tea or cocoa

  6. Freshly baked cakes, muffins, or scones

  7. Crackling fires (electric if that’s all you have)

  8. Books,

  9. Soft classical music

  10. Soft yellow lights

These elements all make for a warm and relaxing environment but more importantly; Hygge is about taking a moment off from the busyness of life.  I like to think of it as a type of “Viking Meditation”. Without the sitting with your eyes closed! Hygge is all about the senses. Indulging in each one of them all while feeling safe and comfy!

I’ve heard said before that Hygge isn’t something that you can learn, it’s just something you do. You have no doubt experienced Hygge more than several times in your life. But being aware that it is there, that it is something to strive for and will make your life happier and more intentional.

Hygge means to make your surrounding comfortable which can venture into every and any area in our lives.

We, our body and soul; go everywhere we go. Just as your attitude, (good or bad), goes with you each day so can an attitude of hygge.

For instance:

Most mornings you wake up, maybe hit the snooze alarm once or twice. Finally rolling out of bed you quickly shower, get ready, maybe grab a to-go cup of coffee and a granola bar if you’re lucky! And you get in the car and go to work rushing all the while to get there on time. Sound familiar?

How about try this:

Instead of hitting the snooze you get up, and stretch. Putting on a special (intentional) bathrobe, you venture to the bathroom for a hot lavender oil infused bath. Lighting candles and putting on soft yet energizing music. You get ready for work by lotioning with organic coconut oil.

Brew yourself a hot cup of coffee and enjoy it with candles, and your partner. Get out your daily journal and list the things your grateful for, your schedule and goals for the day. Do this with your partner so that you are in sync and connected throughout the day.

As you get in your car to start the commute to work or as you get ready for the kids to wake up, turn on your favorite motivational music, say some affirmations, or pray.

Ignore the news and the negative that the world is always dishing out in generous amounts.

This is a version of a hygge morning. It’s cozy, it’s intentional, its healthy, its inspiring. Hygge isn’t just for cold evenings, it can be a life you choose to live. Summer mornings, spring afternoons, winter evenings hygge is there you just have to find it!

What will you do today to add some hygge to your life?!

Go live life intentionally!

THE EASIEST WAY TO START A BUDGET FOR NON-TECH PEOPLE

THE EASIEST WAY TO START A BUDGET FOR NON-TECH PEOPLE

My husband has an MBA and works in finance. He is always coming home with new million-line spreadsheets with crazy formulas for our personal budget and gets excited over the entire budgeting process.

I couldn’t be more opposite! I like things crisp and clean and am more of an old-soul, pen and paper kind of person! So below I have laid out the EASIEST WAY TO START A BUDGET FOR NON-TECH PEOPLE who are like me and prefer the old school way of doing things!

1st: The main idea that I had to remember when we would go over our budget in the beginning is that it doesn’t have to be complicated! It’s MY BUDGET! I can make it however I want! I can grab flowery construction paper to write on with colorful markers if I want to! No matter how simple or stylish you want to make your budget, the key is actually writing down a budget each month! see my post on why you can never move forward without a written budget!

EASIEST WAY TO START A BUDGET FOR NON-TECH PEOPLE

2nd; As far as what formatting and design you use, there is no wrong way to make a budget! After all the whole idea here is to be friends with your budget and visit it often! Why not make it look appealing to you!

3rd: This being said, there are some wrong ways to create a budget and cheat yourself from your own money, but we’ll get into that at a later time. The easiest way to start a budget is to remember this simple principle:

                                Income – Expense = 0

Yes, ZERO. This doesn’t mean you spend all your money each paycheck! It means you have a place for every dime you make so that you can account for everything that comes and goes. Honestly I’ve scratched my head many times wondering where my paychecks went before sticking to a budget.

Also expenses does not have to mean bills. Millionaires always say the most important rule is to “pay yourself first”. This means your expense should include your savings account, retirement account and any saving for big expenses or purchases coming up (like a new couch or Christmas).

Let’s go over a sample budget:

The easiest way to start and stick to a budget for a non-tech person is to get out a legal pad (a plain notepad will work) and a pen.

Start with Income:           Paycheck 1          1000

Paycheck 2          1000

Total:     2000

Expenses:

Savings:                200

Rent                      800

Utilities                 100

Insurance            100

Phone                   50

Car                         100

Gas                        100

Grocery                300

Fun Spending    200

Debt                      50

Total:     2000

Balance Check: Income 2000 – Expenses 2000 = 0 Check!

Our simple budget is now exactly at zero and we know EXACTLY where our money is going!

This example is as basic as it gets. You can estimate your bills like heating and air based on the month and what you paid previously. This is how big companies plan for their expenses too! It honestly gets easier every month and you may have to do some adjusting through the month based on what comes up.

THE EASIEST WAY TO START A BUDGET FOR NON-TECH PEOPLE

But one HUGE TIP is to get out your calendar and see what is coming at you that month, holidays, birthdays, date nights, car maintenance, travel, really anything that will use money!

The main point of having any kind of budget is that you stick to it and are constantly referencing it. It’s like being on a diet, if you don’t follow it, it doesn’t work no matter what diet you are on! Having a budget written down is great, but it is your persistence and discipline that is the key factor in making your budget work for you!

With a solid money plan (budget) and the right attitude (see why your attitude is essential with your budget) you will see your money habits change quickly for the better and also feel like you have more money by just keeping track of it! The budget is a huge key for any kind of financial success! And now you know how the EASIEST WAY TO START A BUDGET FOR NON-TECH PEOPLE!

It’s as simple as that! The hardest part about a budget is sticking to it and staying consistent and dedicated in order to have control over your money!

Baking Soda Mask That Will Completely Transform Your Skin

The fountain of youth is a timeless quest!

At any age girls are looking to be beautiful. I have a 3-year-old daughter who spends her days dressing up, requesting new nail polish colors and asking me over and over “how do I look mom?”

I know personally I watch those elegant old-fashioned movies with woman who look flawless and wonder how I can look so beautiful and what is their secret.

You must wonder sometimes at the complexity of the beauty industry today and the lack of female flawlessness. Acne, swelling, scars, blemishes, and imperfections are a part of life. I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel like the beauty isles today are helping me look my best.

That’s why I decided to go back to the vintage days of simplicity! Our good old friend baking soda! This is currently the only face wash I use as it has worked much better than any product I have found out there!

Who knew!!

Baking soda is a great exfoliating agent. It gently scrubs your face, removing dead cells and skin as well as bacteria and excess oils. It is also a PH balancer which is crucial to maintain clear even skin.

DIY Baking Soda Face Mask:

Pour 1/3 cup baking soda into a bowl

Mix with the juice from half a lemon

2 tablespoons tea tree oil.

Apply generously to your face, wait for 10 minutes, then rinse.

Pat your skin dry and then moisturize.

This can be done every day with a small amount of baking soda, or once or twice a week if you use a higher ratio. Apply organic coconut or olive oil or a light moisturizer.

I use an amazing little trick of applying an apple cider vinegar toner (1 part raw apple cider vinegar, 1 part water) after the wash that tightens and enhances the skin and gives a kind of airbrushed glow to it. So simple! Just apply it gently (I apply with a cotton ball) like any other facial toner!

I would love to hear how this natural and timeless face mask transformed your beautiful face!

11 Steps to a more organized year

11 STEPS TO A MORE SIMPLIFIED AND ORGANIZED YEAR

I’ve been doing a lot of goal setting/researching lately on how to make this year the best one yet! Life gets in the way of our happiness a lot, at least in my world. Things seem to go a million miles an hour and at the end of the day it was all just a busy blur…I decided to try to change that this year by “smelling the roses” a little bit more. Making life easier and more simplified in a practical way. Here are 11 awesome ideas that I am trying to incorporate into my life and maybe they will help you out in your struggle for more daily peace:

GET RID OF CLUTTER

Make it a habit and personal rule to keep your house clean all the time. This can be a challenge specially if you have children in the house. But by getting rid of the clutter on the counter tops, bathroom vanities and end tables you will see a dramatic increase in the visual clutter and stress the room has. Make it a point to get rid of anything not regularly used or find a home out of sight for it.  Think outside the box when it comes to finding homes in small spaces. Tops of linin closet shelves, you know the ones that you can’t reach without a stool, are a great use for vases, pans that you only use once a year, bulk dry goods, or toiletries.

Don’t under estimate the power of under bed storage. Thin flat bins are great for sliding under the bed with extra clothes, wrapping paper, even extra towels and wash clothes.

BECOME DEBT FREE

Becoming debt free is a mental decluttering. By eliminating the extra stress of on time payments, or even finding the money for the monthly payment you eliminate the extra paperwork. You also get to keep your hard-earned money allowing you the opportunity for financial growth and freedom.

LEARN TO SAY NO AND CLEAR TIME IN YOUR SCHEDULE FOR YOU

This one is hard for many people. There is always an underlining sense of guilt when it comes to saying “no” to someone. The fine art of using the word “no” could not be a more powerful tool in your vocabulary. By learning what is a healthy amount of time and activities spent out of the house, or entertaining others in your home, you can live a healthier dynamic family life. You and your personal time is extremely important to your health and mental well-being. Make time for yourself. Learn the fine art of the powerful word “no.”

LESSEN YOUR TIME AROUND TOXIC PEOPLE

We all know someone in our circle of acquaintances that is plain toxic.

For some it may be a co-worker or boss. For others a parent or sibling, and for others they be in a romantic relationship with someone who’s personality and selfishness is purely toxic.

Whomever it is that makes you suffer in some way or another it is time to be strong and start putting some distance between you.

Sometimes you absolutely can’t get away from them. If it’s your parent or boss, you may be stuck for a long time with the unhealthy dynamic of toxic person. However, if you have friends that you are starting to see are unhealthy to be around, negative, bad influences, selfish, and soul sucking it is time to cut the cord.

If it is the former, and you are in a relationship with someone either professionally or maternally than you may need to get some help. Standing up for yourself, setting distance and boundaries can be nearly impossible when it comes to narcissistic people, but if you stay strong and above all positive you will see changes I promise.

SIMPLIFY YOUR WARDROBE

This one seems superficial, yet there is a great relief in knowing what you are wearing when you get out of bed. Having so many items that you don’t know what you have let alone what to wear is an overwhelming stress added task in our daily lives. It requires more time in getting ready for the day. It requires for time shopping because we don’t even know what we have. It requires for work in washing things we’ve worn.

By slimming down your clothes, choosing only what you love, and what is functional with other things, you free up space, time, and energy each day. Simplify your morning and over all your daily life.

MAKE A TO DO LIST

Setting goals each day that you need to get done help you to always know what you are doing and where you are going next. It’s like planning out a vacation, you have an itinerary and a location to which you are traveling. Each day is a similar concept. By planning out your day you set up an itinerary for yourself, mapping out your accomplishments one by one.

MINIMIZE YOUR BELONGINGS

This one feels daunting especially after the holidays and into a new year. It can be a real undertaking, but it is one of the most freeing feelings to bring bags and bags of donations to the thrift store! Things you don’t need, haven’t used in forever, or ever, and things you can replace with new things that have multiple functions! Get creative and research for gadgets that can replace several things. Get intentional about your belongings, if you don’t need it, use it and love it, it’s got to go!

SPEND LESS TIME ON SOCIAL MEDIA

We spend so many hours on social media as a society. But many studies have shown that people can get anxiety from too many hours of social media. This is because of the lack of sustaining fulfillment that social media brings.

Why not make a conscience choice to power down every day at some point and be present. Engage with friends and family and take care of yourself physically. Other people’s moment to moment play by play is an unnecessary stress on your life.

GET OUTSIDE

Getting outside each day is extremely beneficial to your health and well-being. There is nothing more simple and relaxing than stepping into nature. The air is clean and fresh, the sounds are natural and calming, the sun is loaded with vitamins and minerals. Simplify your life by touching nature each day.

AUTOMATE YOUR PAYMENTS

A great way to organize you bills and payments is to put them on auto-pay. Most people get stressed out thinking about payments and late fees. By putting your bills on auto pay and getting direct deposit, you can remove all the worry and stress that organizing bills and payments can bring.

PRACTICE THE 2 WEEK RULE AND FRUGALITY

Becoming disciplined is the key rule to simplifying and organization. By practicing self-discipline, you can avoid so many pit-falls. One of the best ways to practice this is to practice the 2-week rule.

If there is something that you want to purchase but it isn’t a necessity, wait 2 weeks. By the end of the 2 weeks you will probably have forgotten all about it or discovered that you didn’t want it in the first place.  Living above our means is one of the biggest stresses of life. Live below your means at all cost, no matter how temping and you will have a simpler and less stressful life.

Clean Your Home Like the Pros with these DIY Cleaners

Have you ever had a professional cleaner come to your home or workplace and whip around leaving sparkles and magic behind them?

One of their trademarks is their soaps. Powerful, light smelling, and limited.

I know, I worked for a professional service once. They didn’t have as many cleaning products for an entire office building as the average home does under their kitchen sink.

The waste of money that goes into purchasing cleaning products for every specific location of our homes is draining your pockets.

In the spirit of savings money, I have written the recipe to 2 of my absolute favorite homemade cleaners!

I have discovered that both cleaners can take away the toughest of problems, from pee in carpet or mattresses, dirty appliances, and sticky, black carpet stains, to mold.

They also clean your everyday not so hard to tackle jobs like bathrooms, mirrors, toilets, kitchen floor cleaner, sinks, wipe down of the fridge shelves. You name it these two cheap cleaners will scrub and disinfect everything you can think of.

how to clean your coffee pot

5 Quick Steps to Clean your Coffee Pot

There is nothing better in the mornings than a hot cup of coffee am I right?!

What about a cup of moldy coffee? Not so much! O.M.G Gross!

Unfortunately, statistics show that if you haven’t cleaned your coffee maker within the past 3 months you are probably drinking moldy coffee.

Studies also show that most people don’t consider their coffee maker an appliance that needs any cleaning at all. However, mold, bacteria, yeast, and coliform are found inside our wonderful little friends the coffee makers. Keurig’s and drip pots alike have water reservoirs that sit and get warm the perfect quiet little home for those disgusting intruders we can’t even fathom drinking in our morning cup of jo.

Don’t worry though I’ve gotcha covered!

coffee

Here is a quick and easy little list you can do right now to make sure your next cup is as fresh and clean as the first day you bought your pot.

Here’s how to “Decalcify” your coffee maker

  1. Fill the coffee maker’s water chamber with equal parts white vinegar and water. Using a paper filter, allow to brew until half the chamber is empty.

  2. Turn the coffee maker off and let it sit for 30 minutes, then finish brewing.

  3. Rinse the machine by using a new paper filter to brew a pot of clear water. Do this twice.

  4. Fill the carafe with warm, sudsy water and some rice as a gentle abrasive. Swirl the mixture in the pot, then use a scrubber sponge to remove any gunk. Rinse and dry.

  5. Wipe the outside of the machine with a damp cloth (but remember, this and the previous step should really happen every day).

coffee

Some Extra Tips Are:

1.Wash Removable Parts Daily

You want to do this to remove coffee grounds, dirt, dust, oils, and grim. Usually the dishwasher is fine for most parts. Be sure to dry out the parts you wash and wipe down the pot as best as possible.

2.Decalcify Once a Month

Follow the quick 5 step process after your morning cup of coffee on a random Saturday about once a month to ensure the cleanest mold free coffee all month long.

Green Tea:

Ok, I’m not a tea drinker. Brew me a cup of coffee and you are my best friend! But tea is always a chore for me to drink. I know the benefits, and yet that strong robust coffee always brings me to my happy place. However recently I discovered a brand called Numi Toasted Rice Green Tea and it is to die for!!

If you’re a tea drinker Horray!! But if not then my suggestion is to find one you really love and cut out that coffee after lunch and switch to your tea of choice. Green, however; has the most weight loss benefits.

Omega-3 Supplement:

Adding extra omega-3’s to your diet encourages your body to let go of excess. By taking extra omega-3’s, your body acknowledges it’s safe, and not starving. The regular American diet is pretty void of this important vitamin, so by eating foods rich in Omega-3’s such as walnuts, salmon, and chia seeds or by taking a quality supplement your body can relax and pretend it’s on the beach rather than wanting to pack on pounds!!

Fiber:

Think of fiber like a scrub brush to your insides! By consuming more fibrous foods you are essentially scrubbing junk out of your intestines.  Soluble Fiber comes from fruit and veggies, brown rice, beans and bran, lentils, and oats.   The insoluble fibers move through the digestive system to remove waste, toxins and materials your body doesn’t need. Fiber also absorbs water retention in the system and causes you to feel fuller faster and longer. Which of course means eating less and less often!! Win! Win! Win!

The Right Food Choices:

Consuming more foods that help fight fat is an effortless way to help you stay slimmed down and maybe even drop a few pounds. Foods such as avocados, raw (not cooked) olive oil, almonds, blueberries, apples, spinach, cinnamon, and brown free-range eggs are all great. As for the eggs the more you can find out about the way the chickens are raised and fed the better. Lots of eggs can be brown and free range, but free-range is a loose term these days. Knowing where they come from or even knowing the actual farmer will help you get the most benefits from your eggs.

Cut out the White:

Ugg!! I cringe even writing those words. No one really wants to hear it right?! And yet…. Here we are! Yes, the 3 white monsters in our kitchens!! And inevitably in any food ever made!!

  1. Flour
  2. Sugar
  3. Salt

Recently an article came out with famous Former Food Network’s Paula Deen (the one who cooked everything in extra butter and oil). She revealed how she lost 40 lbs. in a few months by cutting out white bread, white rice, white potatoes, and white pasta. She cut back on her sugar intake and learned to replace more fating ingredients with healthier choices.

Here is an article on how she did it

We aren’t all gym people. Most of us aren’t at least, especially those of us looking to lose weight. It’s hard to get to the gym, it’s expensive and time consuming especially for busy moms and corporate woman.

So, here’s my tip for exercise. Get on your Pintrest board. We all have one! If you haven’t created a workout board start one! There are so many fantastic workouts on Pintrest that take as little as 15 minutes and will show drastic results in a little amount of time. Such as the plank or squat challenge! Each day choose a different workout from the list that you have pinned on your board. Just go down the line, you won’t get bored, you’ll get to be on Pintrest, you’ll feel great about yourself and you will be helping achieve your goals or maintain them with just a couple minutes each day!

I know it feels like we have heard all these things before. So it all boils down to action.  Taking those extra conscious steps each day to achieve your goals, and just being kinder to your beautiful body!
